We pull the engine here as it's easier and faster. Usually $12,000 to 15,000 at worst. Depends if metal in oil pump, bearings and oil cooler. There's a lot more to it than just the gears. There is a 5 year 500,000 mile warranty on this repair

Yep. If you got the great big Borg Warner cool logic fan clutch, they are junk and are no longer made. They have a Behr fan clutch upgrade kit. The Borg Warner fan clutch is huge, its about half the diameter of the fan blade. We have little issue with the Behr fan clutch. Also, you truck could have the Horton air fan clutch on it. We see alot of the air solinoids go out on those but they set a fault code.

Can you read the number on the tag of the turbo? Should be like a 631GC5145M . If not , give me the number and I can pull it up and see if it's the correct one
-
I would say turbo actuator/vanes sticking , which should set a code. Or boost pressure sensor which won't set a code.

There is a Fuller service bulletin on this on some models. Something about adding an extra spring.
-
As mentioned earlier, they make a special lower o-ring for fuel in oil but nothing for the upper o-ring, http://hr.mckenzietank.com/maint/bulletins/42-sb221038.pdf

It was my buddy's CV with a 460

Trying to attach service bulletin

Could be the solinod pack/ magnet o-ring onthe EUP leaking. They make a o-ring kit for this.

If I can share a good company story..... 3 weeks ago my Garage door failed. I called Chamberlain customer service and gave them all the info explained what it was doing. they walked me thru a few steps and told me of 3 possible issues and that they could have a tech come out or if I wanted to dive in I could do so and when the issue was found to call them back. being mr handy man I had found the issue in 5 mins. a plastic gear on the motor had failed. it was used to note the motor RPM. I Called them back spoke with them and told them what I had found. This gear was part of the motor assy so kind bulky but withing 5 mins they informed me they had the part dispatched in the warehouse and would be on the way that afternoon free of charge being that the garage door was less than 6 years old.
That's good to know as I just bought a new Chamberlain garage door opener. I love their app on my phone . I'm 900 miles from home for a couple of weeks and can open and close from my phone and tell if it's open or closed or even how long it's been closed.

The failing turbo could have over sooted the DPF . Might be face plugged.

We have had to weld a nut on the top of injectors befor and slide hammer them out when stuck in the cup. Mack has a really quick cup removal tool now, works great. On the cam issue, it was a injector roller bad and ate up cam. Thoses were 2010 Tyson MP8's and a few 2013's as well.

A few weeks ago I had a AI engine that was pushing coolant when hot. After trying several things I finally got truck hot and pulled the injectors real fast and then removed the radiator cap. I used a long rubber tipped blow gun and pressureized each cylinder till one started blowing bubbles in the surge tank. Pulled heads and checked head gaskets and liner height. Finally installed re-man Mack heads and all good

You remove the turbo to after cooler pipe and install test plug on to after cooler, leave all other piping alone., hook up air pressure regulator and pump 30 psi into after cooler/ rest of engine. Spray soapy water on intake gaskets and around air compressor intake piping and back of engine. Due to intake and exhaust valves being open in engine it might not hit 30 psi but it will be good enough to find leaks
-
Mack Technician is correct. Yours should have the new updates done at the factory. The 2004 was the problem child
-
You get any low fuel pressure codes? The engine ecm cooler plate seems to get clogged a lot on the older MP engines . Blow the lines out. Has the injector code come back? I had a MP 8 a few weeks ago throw a injector code and it was a bad camshaft . Missed like crazy though
-
The early ETECHs had bad problems with intake manifold gaskets blowing out. Also remember all ETECH, CCRS and AI engines had the air compressor intake piped into the turbo boost pressure side of the intake system. Any leak at this piping will result in low turbo boost
-
If grey motor then I'd look at the screen in the "Y" hose below the oil cooler. And also if a AI water pump was installed on a AC engine it can cause wired issues. Pulley size is different between the two models
-
Also ,if early ETECH (98.5-01) then a cam key way change to over 400 hp plus all the other suff listed above
-
Is this a ASET engine or early MP7?
-
Does it have a Allison trans?

Only thing I can think of is one of the power relays is not powering down. Try pulling the battery cables off, waiting a few minutes then putting them back on and try starting again. Also, you mean it will crank over but not start or just not crank over at all?

I have maxxed out my download data amount. Is there a way I can delete some of the old pics and files in some of the old posts that I have attached years ago?
