I seen from a previous post that you can find out if a Step 12B update has been done in the ECM.
Can you still check this? Or direct me who can?
We have a 2007 Granite, running super slow. Last 6 # vin 061642.
Thanks!

It’s usually only a couple hours labor but finding a dealership that will do it is the problem. It’s not very easy and one screw up and you can fry a ECM easily. It’s a multi-step process of manually downloading the software from Mack and saving the old data off the ECM and combining them and then putting it all back into the ECM. Plus most of the guys that did programing on the gray engines are retired or have quit. My old dealership won’t do it anymore.

Your truck is a Step12A so the VECU can be flashed to 12B . Also the VECU and engine ECM have never been replaced or software updated since the day it rolled off the line according to the Mack dealership we use( where I used to work). Every Mack dealership has access to the “VMAC online” system to look at all VMAC 3 trucks 1998.5- 2007.5year models. This shows software and programming and history and components for each truck.

The speedo not working can cause the engine to derate for sure. If a Mack transmission, check for loose or missing bolt/washer that holds the yoke to the back of the trans. Very common for them to come loose and fall out. Otherwise a faulty speedo sensor or wiring could be the issue. I’ll check with my buddy and get a answer on the software level for your truck.

Just sent email Good news and bad news. Good news is yours is a CCRS engine and you don't have to pull camshaft and install off set key way when you get over 400 hp like the early ETECHs . Bad news is to do a 460 hp you have to add a boost pressure sensor and do some wiring and it requires the crappy waste gate turbo that gives lots of problems. Back to some good news , the 427 uses a standard type turbo . Give me your email and tomorrow I'll try to attach some info on on the CCRS motor
