  1. Years ago I put a superliner cab air suspension on my truck. during the upgrade i also put R model hood rollers on the cowl. the issue is the driver side of the hood does not make contact with the roller. I raised the rollers 1/2", moved them forward but its still resting the cowl. im wondering if i am missing a part?

anyone have a pic of a western mack with the hood / roller assembly?

    Thank you

  2. Yes When I wiggle the toggle I can get the 2 out side clearance lights and fender lights to come on. but as soon as I hit a bump they go out. The center 3 markers headlights tail lights all stay on with no issues. its 100% in the switch but I think its original to the truck. I searched online for the number but could not find it. Mack is almost useless with these old dogs. the numbers are there in the system but the new guys behind the counter have to dig deep to find the numbers. if you find a number I will use it and call mack to see if they have any in stock. it should be a common issue in the old truck world. and still a handfull of R models out there working

  3. Lots of good info Rob. I did not know there were so many variations of the panels.. Mine are pretty beat up. I think they were left lose for many years as each bolt hole is either oval or had broke thru to the edge. The lower fiberglass was rounded out as well so I had to use some Epoxy to fill in the holes and then re drill them. I was going to re mount them with rubber well nuts but the holes are to close to the corners.  If you have 2 good used ones you want to let go let me know. not looking for perfect just ones that have good mounting holes.

The truck is looking fantastic. Looks great in the snow!  I still think the long hood Hayward Macks were the best looking ever! I'll bet her bark is great too!

Didn't you pick up a 36inch Able Body sleeper as well a few years back?

Yes I did. about 7 years ago or so.... I still have it just waiting to get the truck under shed so I can repaint it and put the bunk on. the bunk needs a restoration as well but it has the dual cutouts already

  5. Thanks Rob...Would love to but I want to get the truck under shed before I start fixing it up again. We are in the process of moving. hope to get some property where I can keep all my junk on it and get a shed built to keep a few restored trucks under.  its only money as they say LOL. are you still just out side of peoria? I know you were talking about moving but cant recall if you did or not. Im going to springfield for the ATHS show.  will you be there?

  6. Just put in my New LED headlights and I noticed when removing my panels that they mount a little diffrent from what I see are sold today.  Mine are held in with 4 screws (one at each corner) where the panels I see for sale on Ebay have a tab that sticks out on one side that looks like it locates into a slot and then on the other side of the panel there are 2 screw holes next to the headlight for what I assume is to hold it in place. was there a update to the panels between the Mack westerns and the R models. this is new to me?

  7. Looking for the correct part numbers for the air filters that go in a Donaldson twin outlet housing . it has a upper and lower filter and I would like to replace them but I cant see a part number on the ones in the truck.  Also is there a radial seal upgrade to the standard original style?

The Truck Vin is a RS78632474LST its a 77 Mack with a tip turbine engine/ duel outlet housing

    Thank you for the help

It's still leaking in the rain

Any ideas on where to look, I don't see where it is leaking, I just have water on the floor

Are the gaskets for the small lights available

first look to see if its leaking at the roof vent or A/C unit. My 77 western had a roof mount AC unit and I ended up having to replace the whole roof sheet metal because of the rust issues it caused.  if no signs of water from the roof I would suspect the rain rail has rusted out someplace and water is running down the A pillar. I have also seen water get in thru the cowl vent and fire wall with all the cables and such that run thru the wall and dont have properly sized grommets. Driver side kick vent is also suspect as it had s rubber seal when the vent is closed
