  1. I think that the VOLVO Group will get rid of the all true MACK truck. Just see how now our beloved MACK truck is becoming a "Generic Truck" like the other truck brands. Soon the days of an all MACK built truck will be gone.

Did you read the last issue of BullDog Magazine ?

I was shocked when I read about MACK trucks offered with other non MACK drive train components. A MACK teamed up with Eaton, Fuller, Rockwell, Allison , Meritor etc... ?

I am getting confused and now I am in the point of beleiving that the new MP7 engine family is in real statement VOLVO engines disguised as a MACK product.

It is so paifull to see our MACK getting VOLVORIZED little by little to the day the MACK brand will no longer exist.

They can say that MACK merges with VOLVO for the good of both companies. But at what cost ?

Good bye to the all true MACK Diesel Engines.

    Good bye to MAXITORQUE transmissions

Good bye to Camell Back suspension

    Good bye reliable MACK R /RD /DM /DMM /DMMX / CS /Mid Liner /CL 700 Elite.

I hope this VOLVO-MACK thing ends up like the Daimler Chrysler group erger and MACK kicks out Volvo for the good of the brand.

MACK TRUCKS has the capabilities of surviving on its own.

    VOLVO TRUCKS SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Sorry to post such trash? :(

Well it seems that all the MACK trucks were sold and Volvo need the empty space of the Mack dealer to put their trucks to pasture because they are not selling them. VOLVO,no matter if you have one on ICE ROAD TRUCKERS as one of the show stars, Volvo trucks will never be equal to MACK.

To stop this, ecourage your felow Truckers to not buy any Volvo.

  3. In regards to why Mack stopped production of the RD/RB.

1st off, don't get me wrong. I have never been happy with Volvo aquiring Mack, nor was I happy when Renault owned them.

I believe that the real reason that the RD/RB was replaced with the CV was the result of about 4 different things.

    a) Although it worked very well, the design had run its course. Almost 40 years and 4 decades.

    B) Gov't intervention to protect us from ourselves with required safety up-grades that probably could not be put into the platform, new requirements for engine emissions that result in redesigned engine compartments, and the such.

    c) Future drivers. Humans are getting larger with each suceeding generation. There was only so much room in the R cab. And humans are getting lazy. There is a need for a platform that can adapt to future drivers who grew up playing with Playstation and X box, as opposed to us who grew up playing outside, with our friends, getting exercise and developing stamina to actually work.

    d) The biggest thing that killed the R platform........ Typically a "truck guy" no longer buys the trucks. A "bean counter" does. He doesn't care about longevity of the units that he buys, only the bottom dollar.

    just my .02 worth.

    T.

The same age run can go with the other trucks. Take for example KW trucks wich have the same cab design for almost 40 years now. The R series cab and front end could be updated if they wanted to do so.

I agree with you on what you say about us playing outside. Those kids of today will not leave their Playstation X-Box or PC's just to work hard like us.

RD was out to give new space to the Granite, Granite Axle Back, Pinnacle, Vision and all Mack new models.

Too bad to see the ol' reliable gone...

  4. I would say that MACK Trucks should kept making the RD series truck. Can you imagine a 2008 New RD model, the same RD as allways but with some touches like the new MACK "M" grill. And those GRANITE windows that split down a little bit ???. The classic look and style of the R series cab is one of my favorite features. Thanks MACK trucks for not get carried over by the conventional square style of the other "trucks".

Mack R are trully dependable and reliable trucks, easy to work with. I don't mid to send my R Mack to the work pit every day. It has survived it since 1989 and it will last for ever. the EM6 series engines are true performers.

Why we choose them over new offerings ? Well what can you say about this R Series Mack trucks when throught all my life I have seen them work and workover and over and never giving up. That tells you that if you have one, it will outlast anything else.

And besides that original MACK R Series look was never copied by the "competition"

New trucks are ok, but they are focused more in Safety and all the comfortable things, than in the dependability and reliale atributes of the trucks. Let the time tell us if the New offerings will last that longmack_r_1985.jpg

  5. Hello Fabian,I don't know how to put the little squiggly thing over the "a", but it is nice to see the old trucks still working.Last week I was stopped at A red light on rt. 14 in Ravenna,Oh. when A nice looking B-model tandem dump truck came up behind me and turned right when the light changed,so I couldn't get A picture. It was dark green with black fenders, nice looking truck, but still on the job-BMT member maybe?.Might have been Freighttrain, that's his neck of the woods.

To put the accent over the letter "a" just press Alt ( keep it pressed) and then with the other hand type the number 160.

The MACK B61 is trully my favorite Classic Truck. I wanrt to restore one.

  6. Hi my name is Fabián and I am from Puerto Rico.

MACK TRUCKS is my favorite Truck. How delightfull is to see those MACKS from when I was a Kid, still working today. Here MACK R models and RD models are King in the Dump Truck area.
