  1. I had started working at a loal sign shop 6 years ago when i was 10 and one day while cleaning up i saw a pic of a red b model and this truck was gorgeous. It was a 1959 b61 and it was mint inside and out. Obviously i had to ask what the story was behind the truck. He said that it belonged to an old rigging company in ny and they sold it to him for 10,000. So i asked were it was now and the response i got was "oh that old piece of s%^t, its in a tow yard dying in queens". so aout two months later he took me down to see it and i and i almost dyed i mean it was that bad. the paint had fadedand cracked the tanks were left opened and filled with waterand some idiot had left the doors open for the rain o get in and eat at the floors. So i asked if i could buy it and he said i could have it when i was older and could store it some where. So six months ago the truck had to go cause they were clearing the yard out. so there was my chance and i took it. I found a guy who could store it for me and tow it there. So for the last six months i have been on a horrible scavenger hunt for inexpensive parts to fit my truck. and it has left me like 500 miles away and almost broke. I do believe the hardest things to find were the front fender which got smashed at the old yard a good hood to replace the rotted warped one on the truck and i had to travel from long island to pittsburg to get them from a guy on the site here. So anyways my goal is to have the truck running and street legal in order to make it to the macungie show and barrys show in sept. damn i just realized that barrys show and the diesel nationals areoin the same day. oh well there will be more nationals to attend. wish i had some pics for you guys guess some will see me at macungie or at barrys show later on this year
  2. Hey barry sounds like a great show maybe if the cash is comming in decently this summer after school is out then i may be able to bring my b model to its first show with me. im not counting on paint but who cares its a work in progress. I am more worried on the mechanics then the cosmetics. andrew

  6. I was told to ask my question a different way. I have a 59 b61 with two series switches under the seat now there is one wire off of each switch that goes to echg battery and to that are grounded on the frame rail now here is the question i have to 12v batteries (one on each side) now what terminal do i hook the wires from the switch too and which terminal do i hook the wires from the frame to.
  7. now what your saying is to hhok both switches to the ground now if i do that and when i hook up the last wire and it arks is that a bad thing or is that normal because the only way it didnt is with one set up normaly and the other with the positiveto the ground
  8. Ok i was told by a local dealer that i could run it off off two 12"s one on each side but i dont know how to hook them up because the terminals were replaced and when i hook the two off the switch's to the positive then it arks so i have to switch one side the truck has not run for about 10 yrs but the motor spins by hand i would like to get it to spin before i go and do the fluids fuel injectors etc to pull start it i just want it to spin now i heartd to switch the truck to 12v i can et a 12v starter and hook it to the button with like a ford selenoid to make the connection but i dont know what starter or what and how many batteries are needed and if i do this do i need a new altenator and if so do i need too rewire see that is my chain of problems
  9. I recently purchased a 1959 b61 and i am having trouble making it do anything except honking the origional horn i believe it is the series parallel switches but since this is my first mack i am not sure the truck is located on long island and if any one could stop down and take a look or tell me what to do it would be a life saver i have had the truck for about a month and have had no luck. thanks
