Actually you could and still can get the 18 with two different reverse ratios. There's a low geared one in reverse and a normal one. I have both versions and I prefer the low ones.

Cam followers?

First make sure everything else is up to snuff. Are the torque arms good? Any cracked springs? How's the weight distribution? Make sure everything is good before u add any rubber pucks. 30,000 wouldn't be overloading a camelback so it shouldn't sway. We have always added springs to the front axles on ch's to stiffen them up.

Still bubbles in filter?

Are we talking new or used? New you look for the best dealer support and location. And find a guy that actually knows how to spec a truck for your application. Its not as easy as slapping axles and a box on a truck off the lot.

If you're talking used, there's a ton of variables there. Maintenance records, age, miles and so on. Every company made good things and every company had their turds. Saying one brand is better than the other is like arguing ford vs. Chevy. Everything has good and bad points. Personally for used I'd look for a Mack CL713. 2001 or older. Motor and tranny and rears all depend on application. That's where u need a actual knowledgeable salesperson and not a guy just wanting to sell a truck.

This truck is running a average of 18 miles an hour. Trucks running this average do require more maintenance. Electrolysis is a big issue, check your pH and nitrates in the coolant every oil change. Oil should be changed by hours not miles. 300 hours. Sounds almost like your cylinder liner is dropping in your block a little.

Did The unit pump cure the problem??

The #7 injector is the injector in the particulate filter. It injects diesel into the catalyst to burn off soot. These were troublesome prior to burning DEF. Keep your idle time down and you'll be fine.

Why? Why? Why? I wish the current macks could go back to vmacII. Reliable, easy starting, cruise control and you don't need a code reader. We have had them with over a million miles untouched.

Anyone saying a KW or Pete have a better fit and finish than the next truck have not drove enough of them. In my opinion, for the price of new trucks they ALL are poor quality. KW's and Pete's are basically cookie cutter chassis and any options you order are bolted over the top. I've seen wiring electrical taped, bolts cross threaded, exhaust clamps crooked and the list goes on. You want factory added pusher axles? Wires and air hoses not plumbed in harnesses, and thing electric taped up. Their cabs leak water too and they're triple sealed because they can't fix the wind noise. And the 680's are no better. As for Mack, I love fit and finish of their drivetrains, even my daycab roofs leak. A/C sucks, heater cooks you out but factory installed options are done nicely. Shakers are just a fleet truck in my opinion and Western Stars are a nice truck too. But all in all any truck is only as good as its dealer, the people that assemble it, the guy that maintains it and the cowboy driving it.

That thorough and good of a build deserves a custom dash. I was always a fan of the 359 corvette dash. Something with real wood and the gauges positioned nice. I have a thousand ideas going through my head for a dash.

A chopped top would look sweet with a nice drop visor! Would be a very easy chop job actually.

Looks like awesome work so far! I always told meself if I had the back off of a R model cab I'd fabricate it four inches deeper and the roof 4 inches higher.
