  1. From what I heard watching a Mack titan video these are to be some serious duty tractor chassie trucks. 11mm frames with 5MM doubling ? ! MP10@605hp/2050tq ? ! What about axles ? Heaviest I saw on Macks website was 46K-lB rears ? Shouldn't this rig be capable of 65+K rears ? ! Somebody once mentioned they offer a 110K-LB set for this truck ? ! Did the heavy axles get dropped ? Or were they never offered ? Mike
  2. So when was the last year for these large Macks ? ! Mike
  3. I would love to see a modern MP10-605hp/2,050tq powered extreme duty 6by Titan haul tractor. Does Mack have modern age 6x6 components ? ! I heard the Titan was to be spec'd with 85 and 110K-Lb rear's did that ever happen ? ! Add a nice 3?/4?K-Lb Driving steer axle with those 2 rears ;o) On side note, Could a Mack ENDT-V8 or E9-V8 be transplanted into an M123 ? ! Maybe backed up by an OD transmission to turn the old 35-40mph truck into a 55mph rig ? ! M123/125: E9-500/7spd-OD/9.02s/16.00R24s ;o) Just an idea I had Mike
  4. The above photo shows 280hp@2100rpm ? ! It shows 700tq@1600rpm ? ! So it looked like the torque is up in the revs but the HP was shown as to be at 2100rpms . . . So I had to ask ;o) Mike
  5. 280hp@2100rpm ? ! So they the V8s ran about the same rev's as the I6s ? ! Meaning both hit peak HP@2100 ? Mike
  6. Looks like scrap to ME sorry ! I'm the anti-chrysler ;o) Mike
  7. I thought a glider was stuff a new truck inside the old truck ? ! I guess it could be done either way ;o) Mike
  8. What are you talking about ? Looks like all he did was put a modern truck on top of his vintage truck to ME ;o) Mike
  9. The gas engine got 9.02 ratio, and the diesel got the 10.11 ratio. The Gasser maxed out at 2800rpm and the diesel maxed out at 3300rpm ;o) Though the gasser is stated NOT to exceed 2600rpm and the diesel not to exceed 3000rpm ;o) Cool trucks for only running 35mph steady and 43-45mph all tapped out, Well enough boring bla bla info Mike
  10. M123/125: LeRoi 844 V8 gas engine made 297hp/725tq. M123a1c: Cummins V-785 V8 diesel engine made 300hp/580tq. This about the only case other than the GM-6.2/6.5s where the Gasser had more power, 297hp vs 300hp ok 3hp big deal. Its a pulling rig you won't notice that 3hp I guarantee it ;o) The 725tq vs 580tq = 145tq difference ! I have manuals: TM 9-2320-206-10. Operators. TM 9-2320-206-20. Tech/Maint. TM 9-8003-1. Ord/Maint. If you need info I got all kinds ;o) Mike
  11. Whoa ! Is this CL-700 a real truck ? ? Or did someone set a new body on top of a vintage truck ? ? ? Custom ? Or factory ? Modern power ? Details ! Details ! ! Details ! ! ! Mike
  12. Now as for Mack they seem to be doing OK today, Still being ran as separate operation their still a registered trade mark and copy write of Mack Trucks INC NOT AB-Volvo. If they weren't the Copy writes would read "AB-Volvo" NOT "Mack trucks inc" Now be all of that as it may, I think your pointing the wrong finger here, These mining trucks ? Long gone by 2000 much less 2002 when Volvo bought Mack. So I think you need to blame Renault ! Actually, Notice Renault also did in American Motors as well ! ! So they are on my HATE list for what they did to both Mack and AMC ! ! ! Renault sold their 49% of AMC to Chrysler, Chrysler merged the remaining 51% and shut them down stealing Jeep ! Now Mack seems more difficult, There must be still Mack ownership of Mack other wise why would Volvo keep the brand running as a separate company ? Much less spinning Mack Defense LLC off as its own separate operation too ? ? Mack still seems more Mack than Chrysler is Mopar lol lots of "New" Chrysler products seem to be rebadged Fiat/Ferrari/Maserati . . . Alfa too ? Mike
  13. Didn't you hear ? Chrysler did fail ! They are now OWN by Fiat-USA ;o) Yep 65% Fiat / 35% UAW / Chrysler 0% Chrysler/Dodge/Ram all just name plates now, Well since the 2011 actually. Fiat started buying them up in 2009 by 2011 they owned all of Chrysler's shares and a few of the UAW's ;o) Not that I give 2 shits about Chrysler, They have been a failure since 1928 were it was founded on the ashes of the tanked maxwell company ! ! ! Yep Maxwell a product of good ol'Walter P Chrysler . . . Mike
  14. Wow so there were a few different V8s. Some over lap with I6s to I see. So NOT all Mack 350s were I6s as well as 237 ? Mike
  15. What models were the V8s ? What year range were they produced ? ? And what did they crank out for engine power ? ? ? Mike
  16. Jeep ? ! That's a laugh, Chrysler is now owned by Fiat ! Not that I give 2 shits about Jeep since october 1987 ! If it wasn't built by American Motors its no true "Jeep" ! ! Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth-Ram/Mopar/Jeep all property of Fiat-USA ! Though Chrysler continued to use American Motors engines 11/87-9/06 ! ! I still ain't convinced the vehicle is of the same high quality ! ! ! Now Jeep being property of Fix It Again Tony doesn't exactly restore my confidence Jeep is back into the good yet. Ok Fiat/Chrysler rant off ;o) Volvo at least let's Mack trucks inc run as a separated entity along with Mack Defense LLC so they can adjust and operate as normal and as needed to compete. Volvo is wise in this because they don't have to worry about the 2 brands competing each other, Because those who buy Mack simply won't buy volvo and vice versa. Wished Fiat/Chrysler would realize this as well and allow Jeep to build pickup trucks again ! ! ! Mike
  17. That looks like the truck I seen a GMC 478ci V6 gasser in ! Mike
  18. Did you know that every Mack truck is hand painted still ? ? ? They have bulk color's but they also custom blend and custom paint trucks. They have a group of senior Mack employees that do all kinds of pin striping and such on trucks too. They said no more than 5 or 6 trucks in row are identical to the last detail, This why they claim they have to keep it a hands on operation and will not be able to have fully robotic assembly ! I found that interesting ;o) Mike
  19. Apparently your missing something, Did you Mack has the most hands on manufacturer around ? ? ? Cookie cutter as you call it don't fit the modern Mack, I watched a 45min video of mega factories where they built a Mack titan ! ! ! Only the mechanical components are robo assembled, The rest of the truck is hand built to many options for each model to mass produce. Show was filmed Aug or 2012 that's fairly current, Mack reps and employee's say the trucks vary to much from rig to rig for robotic assembly. Mack's title maybe in Volvo's name but its clearly being ran a separate entity it is also legally separated as well ! Meaning Volvo to shut down monday and Mack trucks inc and Mack defense LLC could and would continue to operate. For godsakes Fiat owns Chrysler, I don't here folks bad mouthing Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth-Ram and Jeep as well as Mopar products . . . Fiat 65%/UAW 35% that is how Chrysler LLC ownership is currently configured ! Fiat-Group fully plans to on a 100% buyout/take over ;o) I actually love throwing this in Chrysler fans faces I hate Mopar always have always will once Renault sold their 49% of American Motors to Chrysler and CryCo merged the remaining 51% I refused to buy another Jeep ! ! ! Now that being said this was the only example I had in mind to work with ;o) Mack was rather outdated and kinda obsolete a bit of an old dinosaur if you will, New Macks went from looking 20yrs old to looking like trucks of the future ! What's wrong with this ? Its NOT like they turned their back on the old trucks like most brands have, The Mack dealerships around will still service and restore Mack trucks as old as the 1950s ! Try getting Ford, GM, or Fiat-Chrysler to do that ! For that matter the only other brand besides Mack that does this is DHVS or Diamond Heavy Vehicle Solutions T-Line trucks which still service/repair/repair parts for Daimond-Reo, Diamond-T, and REO trucks back to 1949 ! Ok sorry for the rant, I just felt like you were harshing Mack a bit excessively ! My apologies no malice intended ;o) Mike
  20. Mack Defense LLC: http://www.mackdefense.com/ Watched a few corp videos of Macks being built I don't think they are rebranded volvo's. From what I have read Mack trucks inc is still Mack trucks inc volvo just owns the "title" so to speak, They seem to be ran as 2 separate companys . . . With Mack mil-spec trucks also being its own thing. I could be totally wrong or got taken by some Volvo PR BSing thing ? ! Mike
  21. From what I saw Mack has many military trucks currently offered, Though they appear to be regular trucks with optional armor plating . . . Does Mack even offer an AWD truck any more ? ! Mil-Spec Macks: http://www.macktrucks.com/default.aspx?pageid=3452 Mike
  22. Were these trucks all rear wheel drive ? ! Or did some come as 6x6 configuration as well ? ! Why did they use Cummins and Detroit power plants ? ! These seemed to peak out at 450-500hp, Couldn't Mack hit those numbers yet ? ! Why NOT just build an Mack diesel just for these trucks ? They offered them long enough. Mike
  23. I currently don't have a Mack to share pics of at this time. I was hoping to find one eventually here ;o) Yep that's the way to go to get to baraboo as well myself. Shame I wasn't around when your company had those 5ton Macks for sale ! I'm sure one will cross my path ;o) Mike
  24. I used to take my GMC to that show than it started getting really rusty, So I started a restoration on it ;o) The my new cab/front clip money for the '62 GMC got spent on buying the '53 REO as it was once in a life deal I had to jump on ;o) I sorta fell into a few other along the way as you can see. Now looking for a Mack to complete the collection off. You most likely roll right past my place too if you come in 12 and head out water street ? ! Mike
