  1. I've been busy lately working on one of my B models. I am trying to get it ready for my son to practice for his CDL and take his test. I need to get the speedo working and I need some help. First off it never worked since I had it (I didn't care). It seems the original owner may have removed the cable and possibly the adapter (it only shows 1 mile). It has a quad trans and I can find the drive but a cable wont fit the pencil gear has a very small square drive. Do I need a adapter ? Any info would be great.

    Thanks Chuck

  2. Don't take this the wrong way a 237 is a great engine but it's not the right choice for a 13 speed. The 237 pulls torque from 1200 to 2100 the 13 speed will keep the rpms 1600 - 2100. The 237 was made for the 5 or 6 speed. That was made the maxitorque combination amazing when it came out in 1965. Also the 13 speed may not be able to handle all the torque of the 237. Generally the 13 speed is rated to handle torque at 1600 and when the 237 starts to pull at 1200 you will hear the gears whining (untill they eventually fail). A 237 with a 6 speed works real nice in a DM. 5 reverse gears are great for off road or backing into a paver box.

  3. Hi folks,

I'm putting together a new engine for my R model. I'ts based on a 300hp tip fan + water intercooled engine. A 12 speed overdrive trans will behind it. I am looking specs / suggestions on fuel settings and turbo size to make maximum reliable hp. We are planning to use Robert Bosch pump and nozzles.

Thanks in advance for any help. Chuck
