This. I can't stomach the thought of running the cheap Chinesium tires. Especially on a steer axle. A lot of guys say they are fine but I don't know. Look at the quality of everything else manufactured in that country. Why would tires be any different? They just don't hold up like a Michelin, Continental, Goodyear, etc. in my experience.

I'm running Cooper's on my Mack tri-axle's  4-year's now haven't a problem all the way around but they won't fit on anything being so wide coming so close to spring saddle or fifth wheel mounting....

I think its a supply and demand thing. A 425 float is a very commonly used tire available almost anywhere. They benefit from commonality and competition of many different brands making them. These 12R24.5s are fairly scarce by todays standards and not many companies make tires in that size anymore. The 12.00x24 is on a whole different level of scarcity yet. I think Bridgestone is the only "name brand" company left making virgin tires in that size at least available here. That's why you see such ridiculous prices on them.....They are the only game in town.

We have a tractor with 80,000 rear's it has 14.00 X 24 tire's dry rotted often wonder the cost to replace ?

don't know about today, Toce bros were always a pleasure to deal with when Sonny was there. they had one service worker called "evil" . never saw anyone work as hard as him. hot blazing sunny day he pulled 8 tires off unit, dismounted old / remounted new ;; reinstalled on tractor out side, didn't want to tie up load out bay which would have put him under cover in some shade.

They just got rid of everybody Sonny daughter's and the good Guy's the 1-guy was in the commercial shop he went on his own and Work's for O & G every mornin then  has other account's to fill out the day my son ran in to him a couple of week's a go.......Sonny' son-in law ran it into the ground and owed Million's to the bank ......the price's went out of site I bought a lot of tire's for year's from Sonny  open 6:00 am

every new class of graduates from the academy are  instructed on the"finer points of ticket giving" . CT needs the money!!!!to waste. they will know the difference in 38's or 44's.most of the members here might not have been around when the triaxles came into play. third axles were put on short wheel based dumps etc  , what a night mare. so DOT started with axle weights not gross. an ole timer i knew (had open heart surgery )driving for his son to help out, was pulled over and put on the portable scales. truck was over on axle Not gross. inspector would'nt let the son go into the body to shovel the load around. remark was " driver is responsible. hell of a verbal  argument that day. CONNECTICUT sucks

I never met a dot officer that was smart enough to tell a 38 rear from a 44 rear. They will look at tire ratings and thats about it

Well in the back wood's are a little behind time's here in Connecticut they look for a " Chassis Modification Decal " you can have a tri-axle  but no decal you get a ticket for a ten wheeler a buddy of mine got a ticket for exceeding tire rating ........he was 138,000 plus other ticket's on a trailer dump off loading a salt ship the fine was over 40-K ?

This has been an interesting thread. I have VERY little experience with daytons, the only ones i have had were 17.5" with he three spokes that branched to two nuts each with a bridge. I HATED them. Never had any problem getting them to run true but had nothing but problems getting the bridge to come off. However, I always put them on with an impact and used the impact to true them up so that may have contributed to the bridges getting so wedged on there that it was a real bear to get them off.

    Webb wheel's very good hub's
