  1. A lot of money for a knock off dump trailer. I wanted to bid online for an Isuzu lil tilt cab. I didn't even get to bid. It went up like a rocket and sold for $8500. Didn't see what the Macks went for, was only checking when I got back to pit and had a chance to look.

The 05 mack 6wheelers went for $79000! The trailers all went for big bucks! I thought everything went for about double what I would have thought.

  2. I might have on to rent if you need one right away.

I'm sure the Mdrive will be the way to go. I think I just need to try it some more and get out of my head that the Allison is the best one out there.

I forgot that this truck was original bought to pull a dump. I know the guy the owned it before me brother owns an asphalt plant somewhere by St Louis, but I'm just guessing he pulled a long dump cause it didn't have an air tailgate in the cab. So I'm guessing he didn't do much off road.

Now I know they wouldn't put the Mdrive in a Granite cause they said it wasn't made for heavy abuse, but they just came out with the Mdrive HD for the Granite and they have had the Ishift in the Volvo VHD for a long time.

Thanks, I will definetly keep that in mind

  3. I had a MP7 395c, mDrive, 3.50 ratio truck speced as the go to "chicago" dump truck. They have the same truck on the lot with the 3.3? rear end available now and are saying it will be fine. I really don't have a clue about the mDrive. I just really like the idea of driving around and drinking coffee without having to shift! I have been looking for a couple of new or newer lightweight steel dump trailers, they seem impossible to find right now. Anyway, I am trying to avoid an 8 week delay for building, and want to be able to hit the ground running at the end of march. Looks like we will be having a very busy year around the Lake County area

  4. WOW!!!!!! Now that is AWESOME!!!!! And the funny part was I was just telling him how you guys bought a new one with Mdrive like I just bought and then we saw your '97 CH. Fingers crossed we have as good of luck with our new emissions trucks.

what do you guys think of your mDrives? What ratio are you running in your rear ends? I am looking at a few pinnacles, one has a 3.50 and the other is a 3.36 i think? Both drives, and I am thinking these trucks will be strictly dump work. Thoughts?

  5. Not only that xdudebrahx, the pto / pump would howl so bad when engaged, you couldn't wait to disengage it! Also, I would catch myself hitting the DOWN position on the pump lever quite frequently on the way back after dumping. Jutsta habit,I guess!

I have to admit, I have driven with the pto engaged and didn't notice for about 2 miles. I thought the 8ll was shifting funny, but it was early on a cold morning. After that, and seeing some of the pictures of dump trucks stuck under bridges, i always lance in the mirror and check the box when I approach a bridge. I also always check the pto lever when starting the truck, several time somebody has started the trucks to raise the box and drain water or snow and then just shut the truck off with the pto still engaged. The when you start the truck in the morning and go drink coffee, you come back out to the pto grinding. The peterbilts you can start from stanging next to them, and there isnt any indicator light for the pto...

  6. A $10,000 truck isn't a bad deal if it can be put to work without too much elbow grease. Cosmetic repairs can always wait. I think with mine, some of the stuff that has been the most frustrating is repairs that are due to age more than anything else. Replacing the tanks due to corrosion, cracked and dry rotted hoses.... But it all adds up. Pretty soon that $10k truck is a $30k truck.

I looked up that yellow RW, sold at Ritchie bros dec. of 13 for $8,000

  7. I paid $12,000 for mine, and it needed a lot of work. It was rust free, with good tires. And aluminium steers and tanks. It also had fresh paint. The frame on mine has a bit of spread. Mine is spec'd the same as the one you are looking at. I would think that one is in the $9k to $12k range depending on mechanical condition.... Just my two cents.

And that yellow one on truckpaper is in the ritchie brothers sale history, it sold for a lot less than they asking.

  8. There was a bunch of thefts here of batteries, diesel fuel and anything copper. Thieves even stole all the Aluminum ramps from the U-Haul trucks. First cold snap I had 100 gallons of diesel taken from an irrigation pump. I marked the tank "Gasoline Only" left about 20 gallons of diesel in it. A few days later we found a kid a mile away broke down, seems his Honda died from 10 gallons or so diesel fuel in the tank. Paul

two years ago, somebody took the batteries out of the 977. While they were at it, they broke ino an f350 plow truck i had sitting there. They cut the cables, abd tried to pry out the batteries, only cracking them instead. But they took the triumph 500cc motor i had just had new bearings, jugs and a bunch of head work done. $3000 in the triumph motor, $200 in the truck batteries, $400 in the 977. I woukd have happily given them the $50 they got for scrapping it all.

On a different note, autozone has a really good warranty on their top dollar batteries. I use them in my plow vehicles, and have had really good luck. And I like autozone rewards and other "lifetime warranty" items

  9. I am prolly going to jinx myself, but I bought 2 group 31,900CCA INTERSTATE blems (returns that get recharged/rechecked then sold "as is/no warranty") before even buying the unrestored at the time BCR. They have been in said truck since MAY 2001 (no B.S.)! Don't ask me how or why they have lasted so long. The truck sits in cold storage, nowhere near any electric (for a charger),in the spring I prime the fuel pump, give it a small whiff of ether, and away it goes! When I was running my '90 RD, I used Exide (factory batteries at that time) & Bulldog batteries. Usually got 4 years service out of them before replacing all 4 as soon as 1 or 2 started falling off.

I have had a Cat battery in a cat 242 that made it 9 years, 4000 hours in some pretty rough service. Then one day it just gave out completly. If you have been frustrated by the hasles and costs of short battery life, it is really nice when one lasts. Lately they seem to get stolen before they have a chance to go bad.
