I feel the real reason you did not want to take the DM, is that you didn't want to have to clean it.
That is allot of truck to clean.
I can only imagine how much tire dressing it would need.

I have had good luck with auto upholstery shops especially the ones that do classic cars

I was in luck as I had to change out a Mass Flow sensor/tube today on a 05 CXN, was not under warranty so I kept the old sensor/ecm. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to start playing with the mass flow ECM and making a EGR valve block off plate. Had 4 MRU's come in today with DPF problems so tommorrow will be busy.
FJH, went back to the garage tonight so he going to have a few hours on you

Seen a 97 CH Mack day cab w/E-7 427, mack 9 speed 519,000 miles. Could use a paint job, but the the rest of the truck looks pretty stable with some TLC. Price is 17,900. Does that seem like a deal? and is that year of Mack a good year? thank you
I would check the ECM miles just to be sure its correct.
You did check truckpaper for Mack value, it helps

Well Im going to find out ! I'll race ya!

Well I can see, there will be 2 Mack dealers in North America getting nothing done tomorrow but playing with a EGR plate

E-tecks but you didn't here it from me

That is the way they are. Was that way when they were new. More that the cat engine was that way a few years back. The Mercedes was real bad also.
Oh I remember Mercedes trucks, starting it in winter; lots of white smoke that made eyes tear and stink

The hubs would have to be changed to go from stud pilot to hub pilot (Unimount).
The bolt pattern is the same, and stud pilot rims will slide onto Unimount hubs, however, since the stud holes and center hole are a larger diameter than a Unimount, there is nothing to "pilot" the rim to the hub and it will not run true or stay tight for very long.
True on the hub info, But I cant believe it has stud mount
Thinking In the back of my head, someone has put the wrong studs in before he got the truck
Cant see if the hub has the guide plates for the rim

nope...they NEVER crack, break, or have any other kind of problem
I've been having problems with these stupid barrel nuts breaking ever since I bought the truck. Usually it is just one or two at a time...easy enough to take care of. One trip, though, I loaded & did my walk-around and everything was fine. 60 miles later, I pull onto a DOT scale 400# heavy on my drives (but legal on the gross) and thankfully they gave me the green light. I exited off at the next exit (1/2 mile from the scale) and pulled into the fuel stop. While fueling, I did another walk-around and found this...right rear drive...the side FACING the DOT officers in the scale house. I didn't think to get the camera out until after the outer wheel was removed (didn't take long...only 2 lugs were holding it on).FWIW, though, we DID find what we are HOPING was causing a majority of my wheel issues. When I bought the truck, it had barrel nuts with the large flange for aluminum inner wheels, but I had steel.
Anyway, I broke a few barrel nuts, but NO SHOP ever caught the error...even when I got new drive tires, the tire shop didn't catch it. This truck is my first experience with budd wheels, so I didn't know any better. Anyway, once I became aware of THAT problem, I bought the proper barrel nuts and had them installed....but the barrel nuts still kept breaking. Eventually, the tires started wearing the inside shoulder, too...but since I run a VERY aggressive, open lug tire, both the tire shop and the Mack dealer chalked it up to the tire design. After the 8-broken-barrel-nuts-in-60-miles incident, I put my foot down and insisted SOMETHING had to be wrong. I was having the inner drive tires flipped on the rims anyway, so when they saw the rim flanges were worn I got 4 new steel wheels while the tires were broken down anyway. So far (knock on wood), I haven't had any further troubles....but the trouble these stupid budd wheels have caused me up to this point is still in the back of my mind going down the road. I still carry 10 extra barrel nuts & 10 extra lug nuts for each side...
As soon as the truck is paid off, I'm upgrading the axles...beefing 'em up...if for no other reason than to get these blasted things OFF my truck. Anyone who actually WANTS these wheels is out of their friggin' mind

What I find odd is you have a 2001 Mack and has stud pilot wheels didn't D.O.T ban them in 95 on new trucks or something, last time I seen stud pilot was in the early 90's
Also I found on older stud mount in heavy operation, not to mix aluminum and steel on the same hub
they heat and flex different.
Check with Mack see if you can use hub pilot studs or change the hub you will be better off

That "E" model ex firetruck is a nice little unit. Too bad it belongs to a place that doesn't like to sell things due to exhorbitant pricing.
Maybe I'm wet but $10,500 seems a little steep to me.
Rob
Very true but If someone finds one for half this price they will feel very good about there
purchase

if you have read about my headlight problem
while i was at western colorado mack, by the way they have the sweetest ED mack pickup i have ever seen on thetr showroom floor. i purchaced a daytime running light relay, mine hade been removed, are they a different circiut than the head lights? if the head lights go out again, and i turn off the headlight switch, would the dtrl come on?
Cant say about different circuit,But Dad had them on the 99 two things I could say, You
will replace allot of headlights and after ten years the relay may stick on after you lock
the truck and look back outside and the headlights are on (it was below 0`) after I got
dressed again and unscrewed the dash to get the relay out it went far away
-
Your truck may have been already wired for fog lights,(99% of the C models had this harness) Check between the bumper and the radiator for two plugs with dust caps.If you have them then in the dash you will have a plug laying in there and probably need to add a fuse

Whats a titan look like with a log setup ?Mike

I pulled Mack out, the rest are here 2010-Makes-Models-Class7-8.pdf
Mack will use SCR aftertreatment and will add between
$9,600 and $9,800 to prices for 2010 SCR-equipped trucks. Mack
selected Terra Environmental Technologies Inc. as its preferred
DEF supplier; TET will supply all new Mack trucks with an initial
fill of TerraCair DEF at the time of assembly and provide Mack
dealers with the product in portable 1- and 2.5-gallon containers.
The Mack Road Stability Advantage System (RSA) by Bendix –
now available on Class 8 highway models – integrates the throttle,
engine brakes and foundation brakes into the truck’s cruise control
function. A radar sensor located in the truck’s front bumper
identifies and tracks moving objects in front of the truck. Once the
driver turns the cruise control on and sets a speed, ACC works to
maintain a set time gap between the truck and the vehicle in front
of it. If the vehicle in front of the truck slows, the system picks up
on the decreasing time interval between them and begins to reduce
the throttle to compensate. If that is not enough, the ACC then will
apply about one-third of the foundation brake capacity. The system
is proactive enough to bring the truck to a complete stop on
its own without driver input should the situation demand it.
TerraPro Low Entry and Cabover refuse models now are available
with heavy-duty natural gas engines. The 9-liter Cummins Westport
ISL G is rated at 320 hp, can use LNG or compressed natural gas
(CNG), and has a three-way catalytic converter.

One or two years ago the Granite had cummins mostly in California but not now.

WOW! I too have never heard of the BIG SIX. Awesome!
Now here is my question, Why did this engine enter development when they already had the Big displacement V8? Did Mack foresee problems with the V8 design in terms of emissions, production, maintenance or other problems? The E9 was a monster for its day. It pushed the power to 500HP which was more power than CAT or Cummins offered at that time (correct?). And in Europe it went to 560HP and then to 610HP in Australia. So the E9 could compete with CAT and Cummins.
In 1978 Mack and Renault was trying to find a replacement for the 2-valve V8. Most likley the big-6 and the E9 where being tested
Why did they make it Because they could, this is when Mack was Mack And liked to play with pet project like some of us,Mack back then had money to play with because America was buying Mack trucks.
The E9 could have passed emissions in 1999 if they used V-mac2 setup like they did in Europe But they Probably needed funding from the new owner of Mack (volvo)
If you remember in 2000 They were going to use the E9 in the industrial Field But that got slammed by volvo
