sounds like they are trying to tell you hey dont want to work on it.

The x is a o/d front box with a x top cover meaning it turns around the mostion of you stick movement for top two gears.

If the mack truck has a mack trans and you are going to use it then the bellhousing on the trans is same using a mack or cat engine.

Just remenber there can be two different head gaskest for a E7. Depends on what liner it has.In 97 i think the old style liner has been replaced and may only be one gasket now.You need a shop manual before you even start raising the hood.

Rob dont stay were ever you been so long again. Sound like momma is almost as heavy as you.HA HA

You will find in the past a RT12513 which was direct ib both boxes but was not many around.

I can't actually remember but I didn't think there were many od back boxes, I know any 9 or 10 spd based trans is od in the front, which ones are od in the back if I could find an od back box I would swap the shafts and put it on my 9 spd to get my double od. I know 13/15 and 18 are under back boxes, I think 8LL is under back box too, what has an over back box?
In the older trans any RTO11513,RTO12513,RTO14613,Or 613 will be over drive in the rear but direct in the front. The RTLO will be direct in th rear with ubdrive and then the over drive will be in the front but thses are different boxe from the RTO
You can find a RT or RTO 9 and 10 speed but the RT will be direct in the front and the RTO will be over in the front. You can put most 12513 rears box as well as a 14613 box on the rear of a 9 speed o/d or d/d. How ever you can come up with a RTOO by using a 9 speed o/d front and a 14613 rear but with the RTOO you may have some messed up splits unless you change some gears out. The RTOO14613 and the RTO613 have many different geats from each other. Many have taken a RTO and flip th front gears and built RTOO but in the end they hate their self if its a truck you live in ever day. I know your going to hear guys that has done it and like it but i have seen it done and built one for may self and did it from the parts that is used from the factory to build right nd that is the only way to go. Get the parts books out and compare the difference in a RTO and a RTOO.

Thanks for the info, the trans I found is an rtlo18613, I'm working on a deal well see if he comes off it in the next week, I have been looking for an 1800 or 2000 lb ft 13 or 18 since I got this truck I just like more gears than the nine has and I knew I needed a big torque trans for what I plan to do to the E9. I have also been looking for a set of rears to swap in the 3.86 -4.17 range but I hate to put a bunch of money into rears i have to change spiders in or change my torque rod setup for, I thought Phil at global had a set for me he was getting checked out that we could trade I know somebody can use my 44k 4.64 carriers.
The RTLO can not be turned around because it is a O/D in the front box already. The back box unlike a RTO has no O/D. It has a U/D and a direct in the aux section.

Just my observation but!
E9 Was a more expencsive when the seats let go would ususlly cost you a piston , liner head and the turbo
866 would let you know by poping E9 gave no warning at all!
Your right i dont remenber seeing a 865 drop one out and damage a engine. The dealer here that i workd for sold some 864 and one twin turbo 864 that i remember.Big hrose in its time.
-
Even the 865 and 866 engines had valve seats that would come loose. My friend John had the stock E9 turbo rebuilt and re-worked at the same time, and he said the reworked made more boost than the holset and out performed it. He advanced his pump timing 3 degrees and tuned the pump up as much as it would allow. Hs said he could pull Mt. Eagle ( from a get on ramp at the bottom) 92,000lbs. and top it at 75 mph while passing 2 junk Petes ( that where empty).
He put on many heads due to loose valve seats, from getting them to hot the day before. He put on a set of Dale Francis heads and never had a problem again. 6.5 mpg and tons of power.

When a cluth brake goes bad it will be a clutch not relaeseing proper due to wrong adjustment or the center plate is draging and most common is drivers using the clutch brake to slow the truck down not know that it will slow the truck down when pushed too for down when in gear and moving.I have seen it many times and it is in most case the driver hold the clutch down when moving. I work with a man that goes thru two or three brakes in a year. He is aware of his problem but claims he cant help it cause its just the way he drives. If the pressure plate is set properly then the clutch disc are free to rotate by the time the brake is begining to be crushed. Now if it is out of gear then that will stop the disc and input shaft from turning but if it is in gear the wheels and weight of the truck will keep the imput shaft turning even if its a new truck....and up until this truck, I've never had a problem with clutch brakes. Even when I drove the same truck for a year or two every day, never had a problem with them wearing out and certainly never had one break or fall apart on me...but on this truck, this is the 4th one I'm putting on.

Before you start replaceing parts at randon check heat gauge with temp gun and then check water pump belts to see if they are not slipping. Then install low low pressure guage in the block some were under the thermostat. With engine running at hi idle it should show a pressure of some were abouve 12 psi. If not then your belts are slipping or the impellow is slipping on the water pump.

The nova engine did not have a fulflow oil filter. It was a bypass partian flow.
-
Just replace the pump. The last one i got cost 42.00

Years ago it was common for the jake selnod o/rings to get hard and let enough oil thru to cause a small miss. For those who have never seen it it was a problem to find. Thats whan we all made jake block off blocks to run a cummins with out the units on.Mack jakes was almost not heard of then.Had a engine brake solinoid once that wasnt screwed in all the way and was bypassing causing engine brake to hit slightly
-
It is a jake brake made for a mack engine. It is good as you can get for a mack but a mack engine does not have much braking power and many beleive they show slide the tires but is not meant to be used but only on hills.I have one with jakes and one with dynotard and they work good if you use your imagination and open both doors with windows rolled up. Not difference in the two.

Mike i built a 150/150 texas taildragger that i liked. 150 with a 150 Lycombing engine and a tail drager kit and a prop twisted between cruze and power. I would climp pretty good for a trainer and the i had to trade it and get a 1958 180 cessna.I flew it 36 hrs and let the crosswind get under my left wing on final then not smart enough to go around so i nailed it down and ground looped it. I said this is showing me how slow i am getting so i put it away and sold it to another hand.It had float brakets and a sea going prop and the man wanted it bad.

The water pump pulls on one and pushes on the other.

I talk with Rob last nigh for awhile and he is too busy to do any extra. He has a mack hes doing the engine on and sounds happy as i would like to see any one. Yes i was sorry to see him move on.

I ha a Datsun pickup years back that would ice the carb and choke down. when i found out what was happeing i found some one had removed the heat muff from the exhaust manifold to the aircleaner. I put one on it and problem fixed.Mike i ha a cessan that stopped runing with me and i know it was crb ice cause i didnt pull the heat. It was on final and no power on at 70degree temp but humid air.I had no problem putting it on the gtound but found that it was only wind milling after i added power.luck have it it was on the run way by then.
-
just like a airplane engine it can frezze at 70 degress if the air has enough moisture in it.

Well you know any more working for a living is only going to get you buy.So i have been trying to come up with a new gig to make some fast money and found that this ideal may be the best. Start recording all of the preidents speaches and save them. Then if you ever find him telling the truth about any thing then you have gold in your hands. I think you could post that on Ebay or craigslist and make some big money.
