  1. Myself, being one of the purveyors of some of the finest bullshit available on the internet, can honestly say I have never been offended by anything posted on the BMT website. Probably never will. Many times in the past if a participant posts something I don't agree with, I don't respond to the post. No harm, no foul there. I don't try to bias anyone's opinion one way or another. Anybody that doesn't agree with one of my opinions is welcome to do so also. Don't really make no difference to me what someone else does cause it's no sweat off the balls I used to have, (thanks "Momma"). Basically I think if someone is unhappy with what is posted on the website, they should go elsewhere. I have come to the help of the membership many times through the website's inception in the earliest days, and will continue to do so till asked to go elsewhere myself. I make that statement as a non negotiable point. I will also say plain and simple with no ambiguity that the idea of incorporating moderators into the website was not needed and I had envisioned problems in the future with the incorporation. We have done a very good job of "policing" ourselves for a lot of years, and this trend should be allowed to continue. Change is not always good, nor needed.

That is my point exactly, only I could not say it as well. I can not say that I have seen anyone here be offensive, just to be offensive. On the other hand, Dad used to tell me that if you someone doing something wrong and don't say or do something about it, you become part of it. Correctness for the perceived point of being correct is not only incorrect it quickly destroying the foundation of this country, and what we have stood for.

  2. Aptitude is good, but attitude is everything. If he want's to be the best in the world, he just has to have that mind set.

A little encouragement helps. I like trucks myself, but tracks might be a better way. Construction is not over in this country, and a really good track mechanic can demand a lot more for his talents.

  3. I dont think I could be offended by anything political, racial, or porno or whatever. i dont think i ever really been offended in my life, i just get pissed if i think I am being used or made fun of, dont recall that ever happening though. i must have really thick skin. I wont much tolerate any abusive talk of military men and women, just doing their job. It aint like Im gonna get mad and not play anymore though, prolly just get really verbally nasty. I dont much care for our current president, thas just my opinion,,,,randyp

    That's a good attitude. I like it.

  4. This is from the rules section at the bottom right of the webpage and was the basis for my judgement.

I never meant to imply that political opinions could not be expressed. I understand that these are just jokes, and I've posted similar things myself. I think I misinterpreted the rules somewhat. I'm going to open the topic back up but would appreciate if the more rancorous comments not be made so that this doesn't transition from a political joke to a political discussion.

I apologize for any sensitivities I have caused and trust that no permanent harm was done.

I am absolutely 100% offended and it ain't all right. At the lower left of the home page is a heading, forum filters, so I thought I would see what it consisted of. when I had filtered out forty Craigs list for sale items, and any other items that might be of no personal interest, there had been 3 postings in the last 24 hours. Better still I have a built in personal filter, if something is offensive to me I won't waste time with it. I don't need someone else filtering stuff for me. This correctness attitude is for the birds. The next time someone gets to wondering where somebody is, they may have just gotten tired of the crap.

  5. "Momma" always has air freshener by the bedside cause I fart in bed quite often. She has yet to spray me with freshener, it's usually either the fire extinguisher, wasp spray, or "409". This is of course once she escapes from the "Dutch Oven".

As a young man, one of my co-workers confided to me that he had just gone through a divorce. When I asked him why, he told me that it came about because he had farted in bed and held the covers over his wife's head. Well it didn't work for me, and just as soon as I could see a little out of one eye, I went back to work and told him so. As a side note, don't try that shit with a woman that can bench press 400 lbs.

  6. What is the per mile rate that an owner operator with his own authority should be charging? I'm sure there are different figures; I'm curious as to the range.

    Denny

If you figure in the actual cost to keep the truck running an average of 120,000 miles per year it will be close to or higher than a buck a mile. That does not account for personal expense at all. Truck and trailer payments not included either. Another thing, loaded or empty the operating cost is virtually the same. The overwhelming difference, no revenue. In today's climate, I wonder why anyone wants a truck.

  7. Should load it up with as many upper management and design engineers as they could get in it, and do as that Albert E. fellow suggested. Drive it around a tree at 185.999 miles per second, and see what happens. Making sure that the one that designed and located the power window, door lock console on the Granite was driving.

  8. If you have studs broken off flush, or slightly protruding, lay a thick washer, with a smaller inside diameter over the broken stud, and mig weld the washer to the stud. Get enough weld on it to put some heat into the stud. Then weld a nut to the washer. Using a combination wrench , loosen gently at first, or loosen and tighten until it will move. If the weld breaks, do it again. You will have a better success rate than trying to hand drill a hardened stud while staying free of the threads. Even thinking about broken easy outs makes my head hurt.

  9. I was coming off Monteagle east bound once, long before the last improvement. I don't know if you remember, but in sight of the bottom of the hill there used to be a cut with solid granite on both sides, just two lanes, and no way that you could have stuffed three trucks through at the same time. I was in the right lane, going slow, so that I could stop if I had to, when a freight truck blew by with the brakes smoking. The driver was giving me some kind of hell on the radio for holding him up. At the time it had not been quite 2 months, since another hot shot had killed himself and another trucker, when he got to the cut, found two trucks side by side and had nowhere to go.

  10. I was on my way to Denver late one night across Kansas, and Colorado, on I 70. The wind was out of the north, and it was so cold that the cross over line had frozen. I pulled into Rip Griffin's at Limon, with about 4 inches of fuel in the drivers side, and 3/4ths in the passenger side. After about freezing my behind off while fueling, I parked and went into the restaurant for coffee. At that time they had a drivers section, which was open, the rest of the restaurant was blocked off and deemed closed. The drivers section was filled with an entire bus load of skiers, on their way to Vail. With at least 40 empty tables they refused to sit me at one, and informed me that I would have to wait until the bus crowd left. If I hadn't already paid for the fuel, I would have made them pump it out. That has been 25 years ago, And I still wouldn't spend a nickel at a Ripoff Griffins.

  11. Heh Heh,,,I like that Greg, thas cool. When you mention running backwards though, I have flashbacks of my old R-model having a spell a few months back and running backwards, that was not an enjoyable moment, sitting loaded on steep hill, lake behind me. I aged a lot that day,,,LOL,,,,randyp

Be careful with that running backward , you could run into a cave and not know it.

  12. I can't remember the fellow's business, or name for that matter, that Trent has been buying used parts from. He probably has 8 matching wheels and tires that you could buy or trade for, at a decent price. Keep in mind that you are looking at 8 to 10 bucks or more for a disposal fee, for each casing. My personal experience has just about always been, that any tire that you can buy on the road, that is just good enough to get home with, won't get you home. I sure wouldn't leave home without the confidence of getting back. It really doesn't matter how the truck is registered, or how you plan to use it, you are responsible for it's safe operation and ultimately for the safety of others that you are sharing the road with. If you get caught up in a roadside check, with a hard ass DOT officer, you could run out of options very quickly.
