  1. Hi, On the way home from work i stopped in a local tire shop. Asked about 9.00-20......he didnt have any, but he did have some new 10.00-20, That he said would fit the same rims. Although i would like to stay with the same size i have....The price...150. ........a piece...for new tube...flap and to take the old tires off and to re-installed the new ones, didnt seem to bad to me. Like fxfymn mentioned it makes sense that it would effect the steering.......Not being a tire guy it seems strange that different width tires fit the same rim. Wondering if anyone runs this size on their truck? Also currently i have pretty aggresive treads on the rear tires......should I stay with that style for traction or change over to a more "All Purpose" Tread........Thanks
  2. Looking for a nice set of 9.00x20 tires for a Mack fire truck.......New England area.....Thanks
  3. Thanks Mike.....How big was the horse that this shoe came from??????

  6. Thanks.....it would be nice to meet some of the guys from this site .....and check out there trucks! Maybe get some ideas on what to do to the truck i have. But its about a six hour drive...but I would like to go.....are there any events in the New England area that you guys attend?. Thanks again.

  8. ......The brakes seemed good, stopped very well. I Did add some marine stabilizer and lead substitute when i put fuel in the tank. All i need now is a couple tires and a good tune up.....and hopefully she'll run even better. Thanks
  9. Well, finally got a couple of hours the other day to change the oil.......and drain the gas tank....and check all of the fluids.....Funny, one of the guys I bought the truck from said it was almost out of gas, so I put in five gallons when ray delivered the truck.......had to pump out almost 30 gallons! Changed the fuel filter which is an inline now and did a couple other small things. Today took her out for a test drive....about 10 miles. VERY NICE!!!! And even more fun! Even with a exhaust leak.....and a couple crappy tires....i was impressed.....of coarse my shifting was a little less impressive to say the least....but i guess that will come with time....and a little more grinding......Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that put their two cents in.....it's appreciated!!!!!
  10. Hi, Carl.....the build sheet I have for the engine reads " oil filter cartridge".......under that it says "236GB" in small print.....then a space....and in bigger print..."28B" it is very hard to make out so some of the letters may be wrong.....There are also two boxes to the left of this box that cannot be read......F.W.D,I will also ask the guys at Napa when I bring the filter back...I did question them when I bought the first one and they kinda just looked at me funny when I said "sock filter".....but maybe the measurements will help. Also I was talking to a friend of mine and he said growing up his dad use to make his own filters....he mentioned very specific materials....long-johns....panty hose...e.t.c.....anyone ever try this??? Thanks for all the reply's
  11. Hi, I posted a question in the engine section about the correct oil filter for a Ls85 (707b)....Got some good advice on where to look for a replacement filter...Which is appreciated.....Napa 1503....picked one up the other day and when i removed the old filter i realized that i must have a different filter housing than originally thought .....i Probably could get away without using one....like i was told...but it certainly wouldnt hurt to have one in there......When i changed the oil i just let the old one drain as much as possible and put it back in there......Heres some pictures to see what you guys think? The old filter measured 9-1/2" X 5-7/8".........Thanks
  12. Hi, Went to Napa and got a 1503 filter the other day......finally got around to changing the oil today. It seems i must have a different style oil filter housing. The old filter measured 9 -1/2 x 5-7/8......i'll try to post some pictures of it......Thanks
