  1. I had this problem once on my DM897, all I did was take the main air feed line from the tank to the starter off and dumped about a shot glass worth of air tool oil in the line , that made all the difference in the world for my starter , but if its not engauging it could be the Helex or the flywheel gear teeth are bad.

  2. OK guys honestly! Tell me how you would feel if this happened to you,

Yesterday morning (Saturday)@ about 9am I go on line to Truck paper.com so I see this Brockway 761 V8 Detroit nice shape tandem double frame $3,000 So I call this guy an I talk to him for a good 1/2 hour or so about the truck,He's a house mover I tell him I just bought a 66 with a 100,000 lb oscillating 5th wheel thats like new an asked if he would be interested in making a deal with his truck an $$$ so we talk about it a little more an come up with a price for the 5th wheel an cash. OK now I was the 2nd person to call about the truck,so the first guy is gona call him back an look at the truck sunday (today) if he doesn't call him he(the seller) will call me on Sunday so he can give me directions to his place so I can come up on Monday with a trailer an cash an take the truck. OK now in the meantime someone post's the truck on the Brockway web site, now the whole world knows about the truck. Now heres were I want to bite a Huck Bolt off the fram of my truck the seller caller calls me back on Sat. night an tells me the truck has been sold, So I said well OK I guess the guy who was comming on Sunday came today?? No he said a guy came an looked at it about an hour ago an made me a cash offer i couldn't refuse. Well I guess I don't have to tell you what happened then@#$!@&^%*&^$%%^()_+&%# Now I will tell you guys on this web site if you ever deal with me on anything, WHO EVER COMES FIRST WILL HAVE THE RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL PERIOD so what do you think should I have been pissed?

Hey i may be interested in the 5th wheel , what are you asking for it and where are you located and also contact info?

  3. Been working on the old Superliner and need to replace the tach drive. I have not washed the engine so its kinda oily down near the tach drive. Looking down there I cant see how it is held in place. I can see one nut on top but not sure if thats all that holds it on ? Hope its as simple as one nut and it pulss out? is it that simple????????

also this truck is 24V, equipped with a mechinal water temp gauge. Would I need a special "24v" water temp gauge and sending unit if I converted it to electrical? right now the mechinal gauge is installed with the probe in the water housing / probe lead runs back to the dash gauge. Its not working and would like to replace it with a electric unit as you can just run wires instad of the thicker mechincal probe lead...

Not sure what V8 you have , but i just replaced one on my ENDT866b, and it was held in by a crows foot / fork with one bolt then just pop it out and up "very tight on my truck". The one I received from Watts mack I had to take apart and use the very short drive shaft from the original, old tach drive, the one that came with the new tach drive was too long there for not allowing the tach cable to screw into the top of the drive . hope this helps Brian

  4. That's a tough question. Every now and then we get lucky with new parts from our Mack Dealer. They always tell us that this is the "last one available" and then a year or two later, they wind up finding more somewhere. We bought a couple of hoods and some fenders like that. Each time, they told us that they were the "last ones in the world."

A & A Truck Parts in Freehold might have some stuff laying around. He scrapped quite a few DM800s over the past few years, mostly concrete trucks, but he might have some stuff that's better than what you have. A. Devino Inc. in Newark may have some pieces as well, like cabs, doors, etc.

None of the three we have were ever really beat up. They have some rot and some cab cracking they developed over the years, but no dents and nothing was mangled. You can have some of the parts made new, like bumpers and fender panels, for less than you could buy them for, too.

Again, good luck with it. Looks like a cool truck.

John do you know if a much newer say 1980 or 1990s Dm600 cab will work or does it have to be a DM800 cab?

  5. That's a nice score. Congratulations!!! Gotta love those DM800s, and its a big one, to boot!

Arute Bros had a lot of stuff at one time. There is a restored(?) FKSW out there from them, and an LMSWM tractor has been saved in CT. There were also a bunch of LJs from them up at Yaworski Brother's yard in Canterbury.

    Good luck with it!

Hey John you dont know of any good cabs or body parts down your way do you ?

  6.
