New Physical

I've got to leave Sunday for Midland City, Al. It's near Dothan. My DOT physical also expires Sunday, so I went to renew it today. Somehow I managed to pass it again, so i'm good for 2 more years. The young girl who took my blood pressure said "now we have to wait 'til we get a room". Meaning an examination room for the doctor of course. So I said ''get a room?!! but we just met, shouldn't we at least go to dinner first?''...yeah, I know-that's the same thing she thought. That's about as funny as a screen door in a submarine. I must be off.

Yes indeed, you are somewhat off. But, I am still glad that you managed to pass.

my bp was 152 over 85-highest it's ever been, but the doctor didn't seem to be concerned. the cutoff is 160 over 90.

Suprisingly my BP was fine, "High BP runs in my family bad", my vision was the worst for me. Doctor told me on my first physical that i was overweight for my age, build and so on, Hell I didn't need a doctor to inform me of that....Any who when i went back in November I was fine. Are you on any BP medicines, or was you aggrevated that day???

no,not on medication.all i'd eaten all day was about 4 cups of coffee, but I don't know if that would affect it. It's never been that high before.Or maybe all the young nurses running around had me excited,I don't know.

Here's something that only the government could think up ----

I have to have both FAA and DOT physicals.

They are both due at the same time.

The two exams are almost identical, and are done by the same doctor.

So - I thought I would get them at the same time.

I always offer to pay full price for each.

But - The government is involved here don't forget.

The two exams cannot be done together, and you actually need a

separate appointment for each. All the data must be retested.

In fact, the FAA recommends that you use a different doctor!

The two agencies do not even recognize the data from the other's report.

You could technically fail the DOT exam, and pass the FAA exam and continue

flying, even though you couldn't drive. Or vice-versa.

The doctor is a nice guy, and scratches his head every time we go through this.

I've tried for probably twenty years to get the two exams done at the same time.

But it must be just too simple.

And - We pay for this kind of service. A lot, and getting more expensive by the day!

Scott, it's called revenue enhancement. Only the federal government could think up such a thing.:rolleyes:

Hey Ray, haven't heard from you for a while! You kinda got all this started for me- ''Ray's blog-cops and trucker stories''...one of my favorites
