tire size to me is one of the small issues. someone has to be right on with a welder and measurements. complete change over done correctly will take some .???? 2in bigger dia tires is only one inch on each side. hit a crossmember then cut -reposition and weld back in. mounting to a walking beam suspension ??? picture looks as if the blue spring assy have been torched for removal. ??? hopefully this topic will have plenty of updates ; let the BMT folks know what end results are.

Those old LaCross, Martin etc low boys get passed around fairly quickly as they are hard to get parts to work on, too short and are all cracking/bowed frames.

martin mentioned is still "in the fleet".  pulled by ole #1 Mack . some times for parades etc. one of the notable projects I dreaded was brake job on the martin, 12in ? brakes which had to be cleaned and rebolt new blocks on. proper setting of the GREASED wheel bearings ; wheel assemblies had to flop around with inner nut  so outer nut installed bearing properly set. The whole reason for a Lowboy is deck height. That is why you still see 12.25" brakes and axles.

Pulled a whole lot of trailers with small brakes. There is only so small you can go with 16.5" brakes.
