2001 CH 613 No Guage Functions

Recommended Posts

Started our 2001 CH 613 yesterday morning and had no gauages function in the instrument cluster other than the air guage which is mechanical also none of the icons that light up when turning the key to the ON position do not light up . The truck starts fine .

Called our Mack dealer in Grande Prairie they asked me to check the Ground relay which is the recangular one on the firewall and it seems fine , checked the fuses in the cab fuse and relay panel and they all checked out OK . Pulled the plug off and on the instrumentation cluster and still no luck . Has anyone else out there had this issue ? One other thing , the orange rocker swith for diagnostics for the ABS next to the port for plugging the computer for analysing the unit is not lit when the truck is running . Normally it is lit when the truck is running . Thanks !

Late Friday a mechanic who formerly worked at Nortrux ( Mack ) in Grande Prairie stopped by to have a look at our truck , He found a multi wire connector that couples the fire wall harness and the dash harness had signs of getting hot . His comment was that this plug that is located bend the VMAC display on the switch dash panel is notorious for failing and frankly completely unneccesary . He simply cut one set of wires at a time at the plug and spliced and shrink tubed them . He told me that this is a common problem with this series of truck and that he has repaired close to 30 or so trucks with this problem in the past 4 -5 years . Hope this helps anyone else with the same issues , .
