pto troubles.

this is on my other truck. its on a international with a 5 speed allison auto. last friday i could here a clinging sound with the pto disengaged. what seems to be happening is my pto is not disengaging fully.

does anybody know if there is something else that could cause the pto not to fully disengage.

what does the pressure switch on the pto do? its got 2 little slip on connectors and is threaded into te pto.

just want to make sure there is nothing else to check before i pull the pto.

is it air operated? if so is the switch leaking air or not exhausting air?

the shaft the the idle gear spins on could be bad letting the gear make light contact?

thanks. it is electric operated. dont know if the pressure switch has anything to do with it. i also replaced the solenoid approx 1 year ago. (the little elec valve that allows tran fluid to the pto to engage i guess?)

i think your pto is operated by oil pressure.

there are some little cluchdiscs like the cluch on a motorcicle.you have to make sure the oilpresure if fully of when you disangage the pto.

but i think there is one or more disc broken.

i think your correct mack4ever. spoke to a service man at parker today and he said the same thing. oh well never removed one i guess it will be a learning experience.
