little cat 500 Posted February 11, 2012 Share Posted February 11, 2012 1998 427 motor has around 300 000 rebuild rattles and sounds like it ticks till it get's into boost then it's quiet don't pull very well i just put a new air charger on new fuel and air filters truck don't smoke at all runs way to clean not even a puff between shift's any idea's what to look for im not used to the mack thing my truck has a cat in it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
little cat 500 Posted February 22, 2012 Author Share Posted February 22, 2012 i guess maybe this is a mack thing but was looking under the valve covers tryed to set the valve's 16 in 26 ex won't run like that exaust was like 1/8 inch intake is right on 16 all the ex rocker's are way off and it won't run if there set right Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They are visible from the very bottom of the flywheel housing .There is a small cover bolted on the opening and a pointer inside.
