Hello mackfrends.

We got a 2005 cx613 460 hp in our shop.

After the driver toke a breake and started the enegine it startet to smoke badly. (white smoke)

The driver thougt the turbo was broke so they towed the truck to oure shop last saturday.

The mechanics startet the enegene and when the hit the trhottle,fluid came out of the turbo.

They toke the turbo of and diin`t look anny further.

Today i looked at it and saw it was not oil but cooling fluid that came out of it.

So i removed the egr cooler and that to was full cooling fluid.

Where do i have to look to find the problem of that?

Any help would be apricieted.

You have the problem in your hands the problem now is you have to buy the mass flow tube as well as the egr cooler!

thank you fjh.

the egr cooler is cracked.

thats where the coolant came from.

but the turbo has a crack on the exhaust site.

the radiator is leaking.

so at all it`s a big disaster.

will see how we are gonne fix it.

Leon, the new turbos have improved housings. You should check the exhaust manifold too, they usually crack along with the turbo. There is also updated hardware for the manifold, but I don't know what kind of luck ypu will have getting them where you are. The leaking radiator may be the cause of the cracked cooler, but while you're into the engine check the coolant screen between the lower radiator tube and the oil cooler. Good luck!

we have to order the parts from the usa.

in the netherlands there is a guy who sels and repairs all the european macks.

he has his conections in the usa so we order parts from him.

i tink thy orderd a new egr cooler but i`m not sure about the turbo.

on this truck there is a two pice coolant tank and i think you can buy a modifeid one paece steel tank, is det right?

this truck has always coolant problems.

do you know the price of an modified turbo and coolant tank?

I'm not sure of the price of either the turbo or the tank. I would guess around $3,000 US for the turbo and around $200 US for the tank. These are ballpark prices for the Mack parts, they may be cheaper through an aftermarket vendor. I do know the turbo is pretty expensive, manufactured by Borg Warner, if you can find one there it might be cheaper. You're supposed to calibrate them after installing on the engine but they are usually in the calibation range that is acceptable (at least in my experience.). If installing a newer turbo the engine datafile may have to be changed also, that will depend on how it is programmed now and what turbo is installed on it.
