95k1500 Posted December 5, 2009 Share Posted December 5, 2009 Our fire engine developed a heating issue last night. It is a 2005 with a Detroit series 60 engine. Temperature is barely coming up, maybe reaching 125. I am suspecting a thermostat. Has anyone changed one, on these engines? Rumor has it there are two thermostats. MidniteMechanic Posted December 6, 2009 Share Posted December 6, 2009 Yes there are two thermostats in the housing. Removal is straight forward. Be sure to check the seal rings in the housing for damgage or out of place, they will cause this problem. It's best to replace them even if reusing the t-stats.
