  1. I was at East Peoria attending a train show at Illinois State College when the tornado passed through. The power was out shortly and the emergency generators worked. Everyone was moved away from the windows and it rained real hard but I did not hear or see the tornado but it did touch down in East Peoria, there was property damage. I did not see any of this but it was a windy ride home to Iowa.

  2. Traveling west on I-74 Sunday after departing Peoria, Illinois and met 10 or 12 new Macks all white pulling matching trailers heading towards Peoria, the van trailers were painted for Caseys General Stores. Traveling at interstate speeds I was not prepared to photograph. Looked real neat.

  3. I realize the heads have to come off to replace the gaskets but i want all the parts ahead of time as i want my truck back in service pdq.

I think it has the 20 stud gasket because two of the corners has two studs close together. Just wanting to order the right parts the first time.

I dont have any serious problems with the engine just a broken manifold stud.

    Thanks, Victor

  4. Plenty of good advice here but I like what farmer52 said. I just purchased a new Deka for my New Holland tractor so dont yet know how it will hold up. I purchased it at a local farm store. When shopping for anything I always look for the made in USA on it, the Deka is proudly marked. if anything you buy is not marked USA you can bet that it is not. Good idea to keep our American made Macks pure?

  5. March 2013 edition of Hemmings Classic Car magazine has a very good two page artical on the Mack L. Includes a very good photo of tractor and trailer and the very short production of the truck. The trailer is a refrigerated unit with small doors on the front to load ice chips and gasoline blowers mounted on top. A quite a bit of history in this artical. I dont subscribe to this magazine it was given to me by friend.

  6. My 58 B 61 lining up for the 2012 4th of July parade in Fort Madison, Iowa. Purchased on July 2011 on ebay it made the trip from Massillon, Ohio to my home near Wever, Iowa trouble free. The seller had owned this truck for over 30 years. Originaly a B 61 T the frame had been lengthened. I redecked it and built the stock rack. The ground wire in the heater box came loose and now ok, the reason for asking about the wiring. My first big truck and I love it. 60 mph on the road is its sweet spot,

  7. Thanks all for the good information. When I first bought this truck just over a year ago it had a straight four inch pipe and had no place to store it inside so I used a plastic bag on the pipe held on with a rubber band. good thing i did because when I didnt remember it would show up in my yard, no damage done. I now keep the B inside a pole building constucted for it. Thanks again I will attach the rain-cap sideways facing away from the truck and see how that works.
