  1. I started the task of changing a clutch, and while I was removing the shifting tower I looked around and noticed the top inside starter bolt had backed off. The starter is sitting at an angle and looks like it might be wearing out the teeth faster than normal. I am going to check the teeth on the flywheel and starter both. Is there anything else you think I should check out?
  2. Well one thing is great about seeing this, its good to know that the CEO is willing to do something good for the people building these great trucks! He gave that one guy money out of his pocket!
  3. Hi, I am a rookie to the field, but my mentor who has over thirty years at this carries a gallon of Lucas on his service truck. He swears by Lucas products. In fact he added a little of the fuel system treatment to a welder where we work, and in just a few minutes you could hear an improvement! I now keep more many of there products on my service truck. Lucas is good stuff.
  4. Hi everyone! I am a new member here, and a rookie to the heavy trucks mechanic field, but no stranger to twisting wrenches. I spent a little under a year in the shop with my mentor, and was given a promotion and sent to our Texas yard. I only have 4 trucks in my fleet, and haven't had a problem keeping them running yet. I have two chu 613's and two freight shakers. The owner of the company I work for just decided to buy Macks from here on out, so I am pretty happy about that. I am in the middle of changing a clutch by myself for the first time. I gotta say I haven't had any problems so far, but its not over yet. OK well I think I have said enough for know. If anyone has any tips or suggestions please feel free to let me know. Like I said, I have less than a year of experience at this so I could use any help I can get. Thanks and I am glad to be a member.
