Supply and demand economics are still a reality. The reason jobs pay so little is that we have too many people and not enough work. The open borders are a cancer on society and must be stopped. If we take the time to enforce immigration law and bring in people who have skills, are not full of disease, who are compelled to learn the language and the law which they will then be held to obey, it will be much better than it is now. Last I heard 25 Americans die each day at the hands of illegals due to either driving (drunk etc.) or through criminal acts. We can do better and we owe it to our kids. We can either chose to be a third world country or chose to stay strong by selective immigration that makes the American dream possible for all that come here rather than packing the welfare lines and taxing the crap out of all of the rest of us to pay for it...a sustainable solution is needed. Open borders is not a sustainable solution.

Once it is truly illegal to hire anyone not legally in the country, they will self deport. If they want to stay then they can demonstrate how they sustain themselves, and what they offer to the country. If they can't cut it and are simply draining the system for their own benefit then they need to go. It's not our job to take care of the entire world population. If they can't have the nerve to run their own coutry right then why should it be our problem. Maybe they need more incentive to have a revolution and throw out the bums causing the corruption where they live...we had to, why can't they?

Laws clearly only apply to some of us and not to others. Some of us deserve things, others have to earn them. Some laws need to be enforced, others are mean spirited and should not be. The break down of the rule of law is one of the major flaws in the foundation of society in the USA. Think back to when the law was "the law". It applied to everyone without exception and if it was on the books, it was to be enforced...and it was. At the risk of sounding old, kids even have this mindset now, even the good ones. We have started to judge the importance of a law based upon feelings and other interpretations rather than on the merit of the law, what it says and what it mandates.

Remember Rome! We will be North Mexico or Southern Canada in 50 years or less...maybe the USA will still exist, but it will be a shadow of its former self, with a bankrupt economy, a welfare state, business and those of us who work will be taxed into oblivion and there will be no incentive to do anything properly with corruption a way of life in all levels of society, business, and health care. Think USSR circa 1960's. Happy times.

The grill and mirrors appear to have been replaced in there as well. License plate is also relocated. I like that fleet of trucks and looked them over at the "Barrington" show I believe this year. He has a nice cross section of Mack offerings in that era. (I like the red and black better but yellow is nice too.)

I don't know the weight values you need. Someone may. I would write to the Mack Museum and send a donation and your VIN to them. Request the build documents for your truck and they will send you a nice book detailing the specifics of it as it was built. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

No problem. Others might know better on the water pump, fuel pump and carb but if you can't fine them as replacements there are lots of specialists out there who can make that stuff like new as well...Let Google be your friend and look at the industry magazines like Double Clutch or maybe Vintage Truck for vendors. Ask for help here when you get stuck. I'm a rookie compared to many of the guys on here. I know many swear that the local "good" parts guy can get some of this stuff but I have no luck in Mass...blank stares and "Duh what? responses do more to piss me off than encourage me to go back to them again...That said they are not all equal so try your luck and your patience as the case may be.

Very nicely executed project. Very nice! I'd like to see more of that vintage truck around at the shows...They never seem to be there...E models and up usually.

Sitting on the ground like that it could very well be so rotted that only serious intervention would keep it from snapping in half when trying to move it. It is a neat piece but $5000 and what it will take to get it up and loaded...Crazy commitment to make that happen. It is very interesting and would be nice to see done over but...big project with big dollars needed. Thanks for posting it anyway.

Does it end it's sentences with "aye"? That bed is rusty but being the last one is interesting.

Looks pretty decent. I'm not big on the front bumper and the fenders that look too small but overall it is a nice looking truck at a fairly reasonable price assuming it is ready to roll like it says. Considering the price to make one that nice its fair. Like it.

I'd get everything loose and pull the cab back as much as possible and see if the hood can be made to fit that way. I would also verify that the cab is not leaning forward a above. If you cannot get proper spacing that way you may need to elongate holes enough to make it work along with some slight shimming to lean it back. You just don't want it to be visible of course. How far off is it?

That is going to be one handy truck when you get it done. It's amazing how nice the frame and part look too. It is an amazing piece to start with. A real good project too. Love it!

Don't you think if you had that kind of money to blow that you might feed the truly poor or provide water to those who have none to drink...I can't even imagine being that self indulgent. Those guys must take the fast road to hell.

Luckily our government is so much better about security now for all of our installations on foreign soil. I'm sure Hillary will lay awake many more hours worrying about the safety of our citizens. She sure did look worried yesterday...what a liar and a turd. God help all of us if that abomination gets into office..

I guess its a good thing I bought one a few years back. It's still in the box. Is it just me or are parts suppliers drying up for the trucks. I think there was a better selection of items in Barry's store and in the competition just a few years ago. Or am I making things up? If you need me to trace some parts for templates, I can do so.

Nice pictures and story. Guys had to know how to do stuff back then. Rigging is an art and only the best know how to even start to do that type of work with that type of set up these days.
