  1. Well what the f%@k. I thought the DM's were the toughest trucks on the block. Apparently not... I have a cracked trunnion on mine. This is the second Mack I've owned with a cracked frame. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas for a fix? I see this is an option. http://www.stengelbros.com/MackParts.htm

Anyone know someone who can do this install for me around St. Louis? I'm fed up. The truck is for sale.

  2. Got it, try loctite brand 271 or 2047, 271 is for fasteners up to 1", 2047 is for fasteners over 7/8" the STD loctite 242/243 or 262/263 is really only good up to about 1/2" over that it doesn't have enough density to fill the threads so it won't last an large bolts. I have 271 on the truck and use it on 1" bolts on vibratory tampers it holds up well there, I learned the lesson about the 262 the hard way having to rebuild a part after it failed on 1" bolts. Hope that helps good luck with it.

I'll give that a try, thank you. One problem is when you remove the bolts, gear oil comes out of the holes and I'm sure loctite doesn't mix well with that. I need to drain the gear oil completely and hose the holes down with brake cleaner.

  3. tack weld them or buy the specialty bolts with lock nut

I might go to town on them with a welder. They are driving me insane.

I believe there is a service bulletin on that. Why don't you visit the service dept. of your Mack dealer and review the older service bulletins.

    I'll check that out!

  4. I have a 96 DM tandem dump and I'm having problems with the torque rod bracket that attaches to the rear end housing. Originally it had studs that came out of the rear end and the bracket went over them. Those studs fell out, I replaced them with new studs and those fell out again. The next time I used 3/4 grade 8 bolts, lock washers with loc tight and that lasted a few months before they came out. I have bolts in there again and I'm having to tighten them everyday .

What the heck am I doing wrong here?

  5. It should be under the dash on the left hand side. Mine works occasionally but the light works all the time. I really don't mind being broke, because it beeps with the turn signals when it does work.

Yeah, mine is the same way. Very annoying when you have your hazards on.

  6. Might try nebraska truck and equipment in lincolin neb Vince sold me my granite last summer he gets some late model low miles rd and cv on trade. There a small dealer but treated me good. I don't know what your looking to spend.

I'll give them a call, thanks.

  7. Ad sounds fine, just remember if you use Craigslist to rerun it every few days. How new of one are you looking for? I have a neighbor that is considering retireing and he has some older late 80's L8000 Fords and IHC's he is thinking of selling.

Do you have photos of the other trucks and what do you want for them? Send any photos to: olivetroad@gmail.com

That's around the years that I'm looking for. If you would, pass along my phone number to him or you can pm his number. I don't have any photos of any trucks right now.

  8. Gentleman, I'm in need of a tandem dump truck this year. Anyone have anything around the St. Louis area?

Here is my craigslist want ad:

I'm looking for a tandem axle dump truck around the St. Louis area. I would like the truck to have 44,000 lbs axles or better, over 300 hp, and at least a 15' bed.

Looking for a Mack DM, Ford L8000 or L9000, Kenworth T800, Western Star, Mack R model, etc.

The truck can be powered by CAT, CUMMINS, DETRIOT, or MACK.

    *No tractor conversions please*

    Contact Scott at 6three6. 2six2..2three22

*I have a single axle GMC gas dump and a 24' box truck with CAT power for trade if interested.

  9. I wanted to find some loads for my 24' box truck and was trying to figure out which load board to go with. It looks like most of the paid ones are running about the same price but i wasn't sure which boards are good or bad. Is there any good free load boards out there? I just joined the OOIDA and i seen they had their own board that was apart of the Transcore DAT network.
