  1. which engine is the vmac 1 with the uni pumps?
  2. does your truck idle alot? our 85 e9 will seep(not drip) engine oil when where the two manifolds connect when we let it idle for long periods of time. but oil doesnt come up short on the stick. we/ve had other machines do the same from idleing.
  3. Well kinda bummed here but I really appreciate the help from you guys. I think I'm just gonna try and find a donor truck and do the conversion. Could it be the ECM or Ecu? Or would it throw a code for that? Frustrating on a 40 mile round trip it derated 6 times.
  4. I tried jumping the plug on the radiator sensor. Thought that was it untill the end of the hill it derated and got code 7-2 do you know what this one is. I never got that code untill tonight. But as far as code 3-4 and 3-5 what are my options to solving the prothem there? Thanks
  5. Will I loose my temp gauge by disconnecting the plug on the radiator tank? Just jump the plug with a paper clip as simple as that?
  6. Usually codes 3-4 and 3-5 they tend to take turns. It's one or the other.
  7. Coolant level is full. I check it every time I use the truck. The water temp doesn't make it even close to the red before it derates.
  8. lso when I shut the truck off and restart it the problem goes away till I need the power again then malfunction light comes on and goes back into derate again.
  9. Well. The truck usually derates on hills loaded or empty. It will be pulling good with 35psi normal water temp pyro about 6-7 hundred, oil pressure 60psi then without warning power just cuts right out. Boost will hit max 10psi pyro 2-3 hundred and water temp 180, oils pressure 60psi. I had a laptop on it, throttle position is 100%, I've replaced the torque sensor, speed sensor, and some kind of engine position sensor. The latest code I got out of it was 1st jake break error. But the jake works fine. Even tho I replace the speed sensor my speedometer still acts funny. If this info rings a bell please fill me in. Thanks.
  10. is there a way i could just replace the back half of the pump with manual back section?
  11. thanks everyone for the info,, i understand how you guys feel about just fixing the problem andlooking for bad wires and such but being it is a 17 year old truck the wireing isnt factory condition on my truck. its pretty much a bad hair day caroded connctions, alot of the wire insulation is dry rotted. i just feel i can get a more reliable and maybe even better running truck by just omiting all of that nonsense. it could be ecm's, ecu's, sensors, i just want to get passed that once and for all.. would doing the timing be the same as on the e6 engines after the conversion?
  12. thanks in advance for the comment.. in 95 mack offered the same engine with or without manual injection. do you think they would go through the hassle of changing pistons according to pump style? as for gauges i was just going to hook them up manually also. i think the only one i would loose is the tach, pyro, boost, battery. and air are manual. rear and trans temps would also have to be rewired also. ignision switch would be ok.. basically i would leave the ecu and the ecm in and not pay attention to it. i have a 8500 series on there now, would the p7100 series mounting parts from a manual setup work on my truck to mount a manual pump? thanks
  13. Hello everyone. After much tinkering with my 95 cl 454 trying to get it to stop goin into derate mode. I am really debating on just cOnverting it to manual injection. I was thinking a p7100 12mm pump. From what I read on here about others fixing the derate problem I think I can do this rather cheaper than countless sensers and ECM and ecu. Im thinking I can switch the pump and just leave the ECM alone and remove the electronic malfunction bulb and just go to work. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this topic. Anyone know where to look for a p7100 mech pump? Thanks in advance
  14. is your egts tolerable? or are ya letin up and takin it easy for a bit?
  15. you should check the econo vein to see if it is bad, ive heard of these going bad and causing the alike symptoms. maybe swap one out and try it, if you have another truck with the same engine. hope this helps.
  16. i'm gonna try blowin the radiator out and see if there alot of dust in there. see if that helps at all. i know these things are hard to get parts for. i would love to fix a simple problem be fore it gets ya know. thanks for all the info 24vman.
  17. hello, i have a 85 mack superliner with a 9 spd fuller trans, 38k rears. that runs as a lowboy truck, in overdrive boost usually hangs around 29-31 psi. the truck is geared pretty high, will run about 80mph. recent senario, it was pulling a long hill with about 10 ton on it, in overdrive at around 1700rpm, boost was at 30psi, exhuast was clean no smoke, then the water temp gauge slowly creeped in the 200-210 range. now i know with the inline six engines thats getting alittle warm. but what about the e-9's? what is ok as far as running temp on a hard hill. thanks
  18. well then i guess ill be looking for a mechanical e-7. i had no idea the e-6 engines were so weak. im glad i asked. thanks fellas.
  19. so just by tweaking the pumps on them e-6 engines can do that much damage?
  20. how about with the e-7 engines would they be better for this kind of project and hp range.
  21. i do see where your coming from , but i am wanting to do some sled pulling at the local fairs, and be somewhat competitive. the truck does not work anymore, its just a spare time project. so originally i was hoping to be in the 500hp range with some pump work, injectors and turbo. but are youu saying that the e-6 just cant handle that? any info is greatly apreciated by the way. thanks
