  1. 24x8.55 or 24x 9.0 s are more  common now. they will work just fine that's what we ran on the coal trucks where I used to work at. we had some  trucks that had all 3 sizes on them and you had to watch carefully about not  mixing the lock rings up when mounting tires.

  2. I need some help how do you adjust where a clutch grabs. I put a new clutch in our 1980 s1800  international tanker it has the 446 gas engine in it  and it is catching at the top. it has the 3/4 bolt looking thing  on the pressure plate. I would like to get it to where it catches about half way or closer to the floor as we have a couple of drivers who like to rest there foot on the pedal for some reason.

  3. I will agree with don we have 4 cf macks at yocum creek vol fire department and all but 1 have drum brakes and when it needs rotors I will convert it to drum brakes. its not that hard to do. go to a salvage yard and find a single axle mack and take everything off of the rear or if you have a few members who don't mind getting dirty take the whole rear end out from under it.

  4. Don if only I could win the lottery we would have the newest old mack fleet in the country. I would love to have a truck like this for our area. its prob got 3.000 or bigger tank. but then we would have the problem of not having anyone to drive it except me lol.

  5. I would almost trade one of our CFs for that truck. it sounds to me like they don't have anyone left that knows how to drive it. I know its a old truck and its nice to up grade your equipment if you can but you just cant beat a MACK and if they cant get parts for it there not going to the right place to get them.

    Not enough information to help.

Need mileage, hours, engine, trans, pump and tank size, maintenance records, has the aerial been certified recently??? How about the ground ladders- certified? Pump certified?

How about the body- where is the rot? How much?

it has a em6 300 engine  Allison auto 1250 waterous pump 500 gal tank 30 gal foam tank it was last certified 5 years ago. no ground ladders, and pump has not been tested in five years. truck was last used 2 years ago on a large building fire and has been sitting in the station except for being started and moved about every 3 months.

  7. the neighboring department is looking at a 1980 cf  50 ft telesquirt the truck starts and runs good but has a few problems the paint is cracking and bubbling in the normal spots. but the biggest problem is it has a hydraulic leak in the turn table. and has a electrical problem when the boom is turned to a certain spot (cant adjust the nozzle ). the pant and body work is not a problem but the boom issues kind of have me worried. what price would be fair to offer for this truck. and roughly how much to have the hyd leak in the turn table fixed.
