Vinny,
I just noticed it the other day, when I got another PM. I figured the statute of limitations ran out on it...

Carolina Freight Carriers and some other carriers had B-67'S with cast radiator and Fuller Roadranger trans. The reason I was told was bigger radiator for more cooling. Joe D.
The B-models that Carolina Freight had were bought second hand from Bell Lines of Charleston WV and used as city tractors, in the mid-eighties there were still a few left used as yard tractors with hyd-fifth wheels, saw several at the terminal in Avenal NJ.
Schwerman Trucking is the only company that I ever heard of having Roadrangers in B-Models, and that was according to my Father.

I'm right there with you! kinda like puttin' a small-block ford in a Corvette, just does'nt make any sense!..........as i said,i do know they put mechanical assholes in Brockways,Penn-Yan express had several of them pulling "Turnpike Doubles" on the New York Thruway, even a few daycabs with V-12's,the exaust was about 5 feet behind the cab! wierd looking to say the least!..............................Mark
PennYan didn't have V12 Detroits, they had 903 Cummins in their Brockways and their Fords.
Inland Express had V12's in their Freightliner COE's

Back in the mid seventies I worked part time a few summers for Schwerman Trucking who at the time had all R-models rangeing about the years 1971 to 1976. Between the two terminals there were probably 75 tractors, and rarely did you get the same tractor, so there were a lot of different interiors between the years. I remember the gauges towards the center and offset, and also a different color green. I'm guessing the years could have been 72 or 73, because I believe the tan vinyl interior came out in 1974.

I've been told to watch out for ex-bus engines, because they spin the opposite way.

hay dockman how do i see them pics you posted on hanks?
Vinny,
You would go to "favorite truck" and then under Mack, you would have to go thru them.
The MB Mack was once a Schaefer beer truck, Schaefer had a brewery in Albany years ago.

There are clues in the pics as to the location. Search this address on the map site of your choice. I only looked at aerial views and could see the offset cabs.
44 Railroad Avenue, Albany, NY
That's the place, only I've heard that they are not interested in selling anything.
I've posted a couple of photos of this outfit on Hanks, including the one you just did Vinny.

Here is what I have, there are still a few trailers around being used for storage. The two top ones are mine from the Albany area, and the other Fred Gruin Photo is borrowed from Hank's. Try using Dorn's Transportation in your search.

You will need an air ride, double ossilating 5th wheel.
Why, Look at the frame on a 5th wheel trailer. Most trucks use heavyer metal on the bumper than the RVs use for a frame!
When you are side ways, making a turn, if the 5th wheel doesn't tilt to the side, the trailer frame has to give (bend). With a pickup, the truck spring will give a little, not on a big truck. The second thing is shock load. because of the stiff springs and heavy frame on the HD truck, any bumps go straight to the trailer.
RV trailers use a standard 2" pin. They use a different 7 wire light plug.
If you have to use a regular HD 5th wheel, you can get an air ride pin box for the trailer, but they
are not cheep.
It's not going to fall apart on the first trip, but it will not be long. Those trailers are made as cheep as possible. Some brake apart just being pulled by a pickup. They are going to brakup faster pulled by a class 8 truck.
Pay now or pay later.................
I believe this is what Peter J is refering to.

I saw a vendor at Gerharts/Lititz Show with a whole table full of different Mack plates, they may have even been new, but sorry I don't know who it was.

They don't usually allow pulling trailers in the parade, with the exception of Mike R, who took a lot of heat for doing it.
My photo of the Superliner with the two Brockways made the BMT calender, BTW. I guess I'd have to lay out $30 to see one...
Bulldog stuff in Cortland is all in fun, I wouldn't take it seriously.
