Good love you for walking away as the problem. Most of the big money is rolling all night in a freight truck . I did it for 40 years not sure if you guys have waste management in your area but it’s a union job pays real well and it’s all day work. That’s what I would do if I had a start over.

Yeah I'm pretty excited about the new gig I'll be starting....Pays good 401k benefits etc and pay raises....the money I'm gonna be saving being home every night will pay for itself in no time!!

Safety is paramount. I may limp a vehicle in to repair, but will not knowingly take a dispatch with a problem.

As far as the law, you as the operator are responsible, and are the one who will be held and fined, as well as dings on your licenses.  Any owner that would push me to drive a vehicle with a known problem and not repair, would not have me for long.

When I ran as my own carrier, I had a safety-stat score of 10, which is about as low as a single vehicle operator will get, it means I was inspected multiple times and no defects were found.

When I leased to others, I sought out those that had the same attitude as I did, They are out there and generally don't have to advertise for people to work for them.

Good for you for walking away.

    Thank you Sir...

  4. I appreciate it Fellas....It's just time for me to be home more and have more time for a normal life with My wife......Also after the fiasco with my last trip to New York State my boss having a guy back 2 of my brakes off instead of Doing the brake job just put the icing on the cake that it's time to move on...Then while talking with my boss about what they could do to keep me decided to down grade me and tell me "8-5 ain't truckin' that ain't nothing more than factory work...and you don't give a care about me nobody does etc etc...." . Yeah I was done with that Jive!!

Anybody remember "Arlene's" In Battle Creek, MI? Used to make a Friday night pot roast to die for!  about a mile or so off the Interstate on the old US hiway. I'm sure gone or sold to new owners by now.

    Arlene's IS Still there

We probably should have filled up before we got to Connecticut.

We did get to Sam the Clam's yesterday for whole belly clams, but we had to leave early because the three teenagers who were dog sitting let Roman bolt out of the door and disappear into the woods, no doubt looking for me. He hates to be left. So he's lost in the woods somewhere in Connecticut, where he doesn't know anybody. We looked and called from 7:30 until 10:30 when he came out of the woods and ran to Zina. I was out walking the streets and calling him, pretty much as lost as he was. The great thing was all the people, lots of people in that neighborhood, Zina's friends, animal control, everybody was looking for him.

The kid who let him get away felt terrible and needless to say I was highly pissed but I told him things happen, we're just thankful he found his way back and was safe and sound.

Oh I feel your pain trying to find a lost Dog My friend.. My Schzitu Milo took off one night on my wife....We were out all night looking and calling and for a Full day NO trace of him...Turned out he was caught on Camera down at our local Speedway around the BIG Trucks evidently looking for me....Buddy I couldn't hardly function that day on the road without my Buddy!! I about cried everything I got in and out of my Truck cause out off habit I'd Say " Stay Buddy Daddy'll be right back" or "Alright Buddy let Daddy In" oh the empty feeling of realizing "Oh that's right You ain't here" was terrible!! But thank God later that day My Parents swung by our house just to see of he might be there....And there he was sitting inside our Breezeway just waiting!!  Some people Don't understand but our animals are our family...and alot of times I prefer the company of animals to people!!

That seafood looks good! I've never had or heard of clam strips but they sound good! I'm too far from the ocean to enjoy any of this stuff :( only fish I catch around here taste like muddy work boots.

Lots of Lambs quarters and other ditch weeds around here a trucker could boil up if they get hungry enough. They sure taste good to me!

Basically Clam Strips is clam cut into Strips,Breaded and Fried in a Fryer.

Yeah it was 3.39 back in Ohio the other day... One of these days maybe it'll go down under 3bucks a gallon or who knows some educated idiot may convince the Gov't to start charging by the quart lol
