  1. I use my E9-500 about 20000 miles a year and its running fine never any problems i pull local and sometimes 100,000lbs+ and it never burns oil dry or loaded. i will never get rid of my E9 best enigne on the road and all those cats out there are only seeing my bulldog's ass (excuse the language). i just go through some wear and tear thats just normal enigne maintence.

  2. Why dont u just buy one bigger turbo instead of running 2 that would be easier and cheaper in the long run. If u run 2 and the front turbo blows it would take out the 2nd and cost that much more. Im not tellin u how to play your cards or nothin like that its just something to think about.

If u want one that moves big air try one off a ginset engine. 50+ psi guarenteed . nothin else try turbo calculator.com you'll learn lots of info there.

ok ill look around thanks for the help but do u kno any websites i can look around at?

  3. Superdog- why would you want to use air to raise windows- and electric is so simple and always available. I'd hate to have to air up to get the window open. I added electric windows to my B67- its a piece of cake. Can use any number of kits for the prupose- all work abouut the same. You have gobs of space available. Check the streetrod guys. They have this figgered out

i kinda wanted air windows but im not sure if they are better or worse than electric. what do you prefer?

  4. Trent, I agree. We had a local brick manufacturer with 4.17 rears in pit trucks. They were always tearing up ring and pinions. After switching to 4.42 and 4.64 rears there problems disapeared. Of course they would be slow as hell on the road, but they never went out of the pit. You can have the best of both worlds ( slow rears and good road speed) with a fast transmission. When making a comparisson, if you multiply the high gear ratio of the trans by the rear ratio you get a final drive ratio. So you can see how you can reduce the rear end speed, increase the trans speed and keep the same top end speed with acceptable rpm's. In the 70's we saw a lot of 6 sp directs (1.00 to 1) and 4.17 rears. Thats a final drive ratio of 4.17 (1.00 X 4.17). With the T2090, 9sp (.71 overdrive) you can run 5.73 rears and be slightly faster (.71 X 5.73=4.07) than the direct with 4.17's. The 9 speeds I have (or have had) came with 5.02, 4.64 or 4.42 rears. That's final drives of 3.56, 3.29 and 3.14 respectively and never any rear problems with on /off road use. The Mack T200 5, 6, 7 and 8 speeds are even faster transmissions (overdrive ratio of .6 to 1) That means the engine turns 6 tenths of 1 rev for each full turn of the driveshaft or another way of looking at it is the driveshaft is turning 167% faster than the engine. I think these are the fastest transmissions on the market. You can run 5.73 rears and still have a final drive ratio of 3.44. Now you know why I'm looking at putting a T2050 behind a 2 stick direct. I don't know the ratios of the quad boxes but they were posted on another website at on time. I'll see if I can find that list.

in my new superliner i hav 4.64s and a 9sp transmission and i can pull at 80mph i dont know why but its not slow but its nothin compared to my other superliner with 4.17s a 12sp and the e9-500

  6. All right, I have a good topic that will be sure to get everbody started!

I am thinking of converting my R685 to a R700 clone. I am thinking about a Big Cam Cummins. I have the flared frame so I don't think I will have a fitting issue. I have also in the past installed a R600 p/s gearbox on a R700 and made one long steering shaft to the steering wheel(which worked good) I am thinking of moving the cab back and putting on a R700 hood. I have a 12000# front axle. I would like to know if anybody has done this or seen it done. A friend of mine stretched a 359 Pete front end by 12" and it worked good. I really don't want to clip my front end like he did, so I opted for the idea of just moving everything back. I can always stretch the rear another 6 ft like I did before. So come on everyone, give me some ideas :thumb:

Hey man go for it i love the way a longnose r looks but its a shame to kill that r685 but its up to u i think it will look go either way. is that goin to be a big cam 3 or 4 with high horse? i have a big cam with 400hp and then i added a second turbo and it is my second favorite engine next to a mack. u should move ur cab back b/c i think that it looks more original than strechin the front end also i think it is easier to extend the back of the truck rather than the front in my opinion, Its up to u. good luck with it.

  7. Hi everyone, My Superdog has an air throtle which I priced out a new peddle last year  .Don't want to go there. How hard would it be to change over to linkage for a "92" e-9 and how much work? Tim

    Hey Tim,

i have been able to get all the parts i needed for my e9 at the mack dealer near me so u guess u could give ur local mack dealer a try. If not ill look around for you.
