Can you provide any STEMCO contact info? Thanks.

In a word...WOW!

That`s a brake light switch.
-
How do you stall it when this happens?
-
I need a good used or NOS switch. The local Mack dealer laughed when my truck was a 1961 model.Thanks.

I`m trying to find full radius (half circle) fenders that will be a good fit for these low profile tires which are 36" dia. Hogebuilt(51" long),and Merritt(48" long) are way too outsized for these tires.I guess they`re not as common as the 11/70R-24.5 tires but I`d think there must be some demand for smaller fenders.
-
So where would you run a wire for the 12v source?
-
There`s a 10 post terminal strip at the bottom of the cab, driver`s side, none of the posts are hot. This doesn`t seem right,as the trailer umbilical was connected there.
-
There`s no voltage to that wire.So that switch is missing a tab for a second wire? I don`t see any loose wire that would have gone to the switch.Could you recommend a source for a new switch? Thanks to all who replied.

Thanks,I see the air switch. To test,I need to start and build pressure, then have someone press the pedal and I should see 12v at the wires? Did your truck have rear turn signals from the factory?
-
There are 2 wires to the lights w/ dual filament bulbs. The trailer air lines and electric plug were removed in the past. The signal switch on the column looks to be original. So in 1961 they didn`t have rear signals on tractors? I`ve only had it a short time, didn`t get any history, the seller was just flipping. It`s a single axle,ENDT673,Triplex.

Hi,my 1961 B61 has only rear running lights. The bulbs are good(brake filaments). So this truck has just the 6 circuit breakers in the glovebox and no other fuses? Is the brake light switch air operated? The turn sigs don`t work either,so I was hoping for bad bulbs to cure both problems, but no dice. Thanks for any help.

Is it normal for my truck to have to build air pressure after sitting for a couple of days? It`s a new-to-me 1961 B61. Thanks.

That`s a good looking visor...anyone know who made it?

I guess Hogebuilt SS are the best, but aluminum from Protech and others are less than 1/2 the price. Also, the 80" from Hogebuilt are 51" across the diam vs 48" from Protech or Merritt, which would be a better fit with my 275 70R-22.5 tires.Anyone use and recommend aluminum fenders? Thanks.

Rear tires are mounted and aligned...took all day w/ cleanup/painting the spokes and spacers. Will do the steers if it stops raining today, first precip in almost a month here in NJ.
-
I got the right rears off, cleaning the hub facings. Is ok to use any lube or anti seize to make things go on smoother, esp the spacer.Thanks.
-
Thanks,Paul,I was told that split rims could hurt you,and deflating the tire removed any danger.
-
I`m seeing from 150 to 250 ft lbs for the wedges, and some saying not to bother with a torque wrench at all, since there are inconsistencies,eg,thread condition, rust, that vary from hub to hub.Would 200 ft lb be a good number? I`ll be swapping 6 tube rims and tires tomorrow for tubeless.I know to deflate the old tires before loosening any lugs, but this is first time territory for me.Thanks.
-
I took the fitting to a local plumber shop,he fixed me up w/ the plugs.Thanks.

Thanks.Oddly, when removing,a 15/16 wrench on the flats was too small,a 1" was too big,a 23mm fit perfectly.Would there be a metric version of these fittings?
-
Hi,new B61 owner here.I want to remove the trailer air lines from the junction behind the cab.Can anyone tell me the size/thread plugs I`ll need? I`m guessing this is an industry standard size. Thanks.

I don`t know what the crud is on these rims, but short of scraping it off,it ignores,in succession;Spray9,acetone,citrus paint stripper and Purple Power.Would steam cleaning work? Thanks.
Cleaning air tank
in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion

I got a bit of water and several ounces of tan goop from my B air tank.I know that shouldn`t be there, but I suspect it had been years since it was last drained.Any good method of cleaning?I was thinking of repeated acetone pours of maybe 8 oz,until it comes out clean.Thanks.
