  1. Sounds like Renault had too many chiefs at the time. I’m sure if Mack’s had the reins back then one wouldn’t see so many different HPs, they would have concentrated more on reliability and performance.
Not saying the E7 is unreliable in the least

  2. I have sent numerous emails to wreckers in the states, most have been unanswered some that advertised them say sold. I placed an add here requesting one but no replies as yet. I guess they are getting obsolete now.
The good news is Paul I found one in QLD, this guy was interested in a couple of ally tanks I have for sale, when I mentioned I was looking for a rear mount pto he had one. I swapped the tanks for it. Sent the 3 bolt cover plate yesterday so he can remove it. Ya’know sometimes a treasure is found on your own doorstep. I’m still looking for second one so I can remove the RR and put the 12 speed back in,(another truck) It had been in there near 35 years and has never been touched except for replacing the the 2 small main shaft spigot bearings awhile back. Nothing wrong with the RRs but they will never be a 12 speed.

When the QLD pto comes down I can get the part number and order another from my esteemed dealer . . . NOT, haha

  3. Another scenario could be . . . . They getting rare and no one wants to part with them, but keep looking mate one will turn up.

Wish I could say the same for a rear mount pto 😫

  4. True, recently I needed a couple of fuel tank cap gaskets ( you know the ones that are made of cork ) I requested 2 tank cap gaskets for the large brass caps. He toddled of to his computer with my vin and started tapping away, after quite awhile he returned asking me ‘ what does a tank cap gasket do ‘ doh I nearly fell over. What hope do we have. Haha!

  5. Saw Joe Biden on the news here a couple of days ago, he was giving one of his speeches and was surrounded by quite a few new Mack’s. Don’t know if he was at the Mack factory or the scene was purposely set up, but one things for sure he wanted to be surrounded by an American icon.

Maybe just maybe the government or a private conglomerate will purchase Mack’s back from Ovlov (remember a buyback happened with Harley Davison) my feelings about Volvo is as soon as they build a conventional cab Mack will disappear. Don’t know about in the US but here in OZ, if you go into a dealer for parts for you “OLD” Mack which was built before Volvo started building them then Mack is a dirty word. I started in Mack’s workshop in 67 and spent 2 years of my apprenticeship in Bougainville, mid 70s I purchased my first Mack and am still running them. So I have seen a lot of changes and of late I’m saddened and appalled at how the bulldog is ending up.

  6. Few years back I rode and lived on my Harley for five months in the states. Had extended pegs but no apes, and NO windscreen. After my butt got accustomed to the plank I was sitting on the extended pegs and pull back bears were as comfortable as hell. In that 5 months I encountered every weather phenomenon possible. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

  7. Hi oldfart from another oldfart. I too am a nut as I have 40 yo Superliner which I use for shopping and driving around, soon when painted hot rod shows. Interesting when I need to park across numerous car parks as it’s over 9 meters long. Enjoy your R model it’s a piece of history which NO other truck manufacturer worldwide has never and will never match.

  8. Looking for info on a EN7 350 engine. I have seen E7s and EA7s but never a EN7. I have a chance to buy one and the guy claims it’s mechanical. Just not sure what the N represents, low or high torque or compression maybe, I know it’s 350hp - hopefully high torque. Any info to identify would be much appreciated as I can’t find anything on the internet.

  9. Ok thanks Onyx, I can’t reply in Venezuelan but here goes.

answer is - I’m sure a mechanical E7 won’t run dash instruments. Plus your Granite has an electronic throttle, E7 uses a linkage or cable throttle.  You will have to change the injector pump. I’m doing the reverse now, putting a 454 electronic in a 88 R model and I need to change the injection pump.

hang on I don’t think a 2007 model Mack uses a injector pump.

  10. If you don’t move the engine while the pump is off it will go back on and the timing stays the same. You will see the adapter which prolly will fall out, the adapter has 4 square notches and one small dowel pin. This pin coincides with drilled holes in the pump and drive gear, can’t go back wrong.

    BTW, nice looking engine.

  11. That’s interesting glenn, I’m going to have a look at an ex fedex engine i imported a couple of years ago, it is fitted with a RB pump, maybe it has ambac bolt holes plugged. Another thing I noticed with this engine, it has a very strange engine number. See what happens when I take it in for rego.
