My R-600 has 4 six volt batteries, 2 on each side wired + to - then a + to the ground on the starter and - to the + starter post. same on each side. Can I just use two twelve volt batteries and if so will it still be + ground. Hope this post isn't as confusing to read as it was to write. Thanks.

Ok guys. You have been a lot of help so far, how about one more time (for now). Found a lot of 2 stick 6 speeds pretty close, whats fair in a used one. All anybody will say is it was working when I parked it. Would like to hear your opinions on a fair price and cost of a rebuild. So far I have had to try to decide whether they are pricing the trans or the whole darn truck. The last guy has around 30 salvage Macks but said that he hadn't sold many parts in the last 16 years " and I am pretty sure I have discovered the reason why". Thanks for the help and a little frustration vent.

Where could I find a parts book for my old Mack. Friend has fathers NOS Mack parts but books are long gone can't match up parts.

Been seeing some oil dripping from the air tank lately and brake chambers. I assume its a seal on the air pump. anybody know where would be a good place to start.

All the numbers I can find at this time is. 107, 4X1833, P7.

Its a 1970 R and it is direct drive. There is not many Mack parts around here so finding one to trade for may be a problem for me. I do see some cabovers but don't know what I need.

Not for sure on either transmission or rearend. I've had the truck since I quit construction and never had more than filter changes and fluid check in 10 years. It was a tractor to begin with bought a new tractor but couldn't sell the R so made it a dump. I have the numbers off the trans if that would be any help.

My old R dump needs some help. I need to slow down a gear or so and was wondering if an auxiliary could be added. It has a five speed in it. Thanks.
