I believe they dragged it to its resting place with a tractor... So maybe it will roll. By the size of the tree I say she's been sitting for 20 years or so.

Hopefully that won't cause me too much grief getting her out of her tomb.

This is not my truck, but it looks like the "can" on my truck. Looks kind of like air brakes but could it be hydraulic?

I have been looking and I heard that this "beauty" was located about 15 miles from my house. The owner has a tandem sitting out at his house so I thought I would stop and ask him what they story was. He told me he wanted to use the cab and the engine(gas) on a single axle up at his camp. So I asked him if he wanted to sell the single axle and he said he would. The farmer who owned the single axle told him there was a hole in the block. I guess the farmer use to dump a gallon of oil in it when he wanted to use it, and when he was done, most of it was on the ground. So anyway the guy I bought it from got it from the farmer and they dragged it to his camp. 20 years later this is what you have (yes that's a tree growing through the box). Passenger side window broke, passenger side floor rotted, couple of the rear tire feel like they hold air. Its buried about foot in the ground so hard tell if the fronts hold air. Posted on Facebook, so some of you guys have probably seen it, but thought I would toss it on her too. Maybe Saturdays project to get her cut out of the Jungle.

Thanks Paul, I'm not totally commented to the Midliner chassis, but it was cheep and I could use the storage box. I seen a few of these trucks sitting around. I spoke with someone who works on these and said the engines are great! And like you said just order your airlines off the Web because they are metric fittings. When I first looked at the truck it would crank fast enough to fire, so I ordered a starter off the internet for $100 shipping included and it worked perfect! The frames have a tendency to be prone to rust/ delamination post 1996. Also thought about a school bus frame, but couldn't find one as cheap as this was and there all automatics. Not too keen on the automatics.

Interesting...I know that my friends have a 1972 Chevy P.U. that they wanted to tow their 1972 15' Scotty camper with to shows and the DMV told them they could not tow with Historical plates and needed to get passenger or commercial plates. I don't know who they have for insurance. I spoke with a lady at the DMV the first day they opened up amid the Corona shutdown. About the "Personal Use Exemption" for a CDL licence. She was very nice( I know weird) She could not explain it to me and asked her supervisor, who could not explain it, and gave me a number to another office, who did not answer. I feel its a clause that they don't want people to know about due to people hauling 20 ton of stone and telling the cop its for my driveway. She was aware of the R endorsement to drive a Recreational Vehicle over 26001 GVWR.

Would like to run Historical Plates, but I need a long wheelbase if I plan on using it for a ramp truck. I could buy a tractor but you cant haul a trailer with historical plates.

I know they have there issues but it was cheap and ran /drove good. Its full air brakes. I know they are metric air lines and that can be a problem. I've got $1800 in and I figure the box is worth $600. I've got a guy who will buy the truck without the box for $1500. I haven't completely committed to using the truck. I like the long wheelbase but its a class 7 and I don't have a CDL. I thought I would throw a B model on it and register as a B. If I found a decent running diesel B for $2500 I would Probably sell the Midliner and look for a 5th wheel trailer to pull my stuff with. Cool to see Mack man near me.

Greetings everyone! Hope all are staying well. I have been looking around for a B-Model Project for a while. I have a 1998 Midliner with a 26' Van body on it that runs great but, honestly is its kind of ugly and saw a picture of a B61 on a Midliner chassis. I would like to build a small camper behind the cab and make the rest of the body a ramp truck. Looking for a cab and nose. I have a line on a couple in the area and trying to set up a time to check them out. Looking for something a couples hours away from Forestport, NY. I have attached a picture of my box truck and a picture I found of a Ford Ramp truck...envision Ford Cab swapped out with a B-Model cab and the sleeper raised up to 7' and a 36" cab over bunk. Well at least that my dream. Thanks, and keep saving the old girls.
