  1. I’ve been chipping away at this for many years finally about a month ago I finished the frame work and the Mixer. My wife bought me a MPC Mack DM800 at Hobby Lobby about a week ago so I am using it as a donor kit for the Cab, Hood, Fenders and other stuff. When I bought the kit about 26 years ago it was missing a lot of parts including one side of the hood. The look I’m going for is like the DM800 on the Box Art of the MPC Gravel Trailer. Red with a White frame and instead of the chrome wheels they will be White. I’ve always liked that truck. I’m thinking about 3 Red stripe bands around the drum.
  2. Crazy isn’t. Had to buy this one last January my old i5 kept dying and wouldn’t st charged. I’ll get some pics of my DM800 mixer soon. Did you get any bench time?
  3. I’ll have to watch that. I can’t remember that movie
  4. Ok thanks. Hope you get some bench time on yours today
  5. Hey Bob would you be offended if started a Mack DM 800 Mixer thread? I’ve been picking away at it for several years now and like to get it done. This is your fault anyway tempting me with yours 😂
  6. I also have several 1/32 Mack’s I need to finish. I have a B61 that’s almost done I think I’ll start a thread on it. I also have a nice Mack RS700L wide grill that’s almost finished too. I won’t start a thread on it until I get the B61 done.
  7. Alright! I have to go Dump trucking but I’ll be checking in
  8. Me too. My brothers didn’t want anything to do with trucking but the middle brother is a truck nut like me.
  9. Yeah they loaded that truck up with chrome
  10. Same here always like to listen to the stories how my Great Grandfather hauled freight to Boxcars in wagons.
  11. Congratulations I’ve been legally driving 36 years now I’m a 4th generation truck dad drove 43 years mostly as a OO I’m going to surpass his years but the way I feel anymore I doubt it. Probably going to hang it up in 4 years or go to about 3 days a week maybe. I like that green on that DM800. Do you recall what color you painted it? We keep talking about it it’s going to come down from the closet 😂
  12. Like to see those are they on the net? I’ve seen the ones in the Mack Museum. I almost went to Allentown with my old boss where I retired after 25 years with him to see my last Mack truck built and the last few he bought to be made but I’m too afraid to fly. He was going to pay for everything.
  13. Yes I’ve really have noticed this year it’s slowing way down. My wife always says we can’t retire together she will kill me 😂. Glad I have this small farm to keep me busy if I do.
  14. Lost of Mack Books out there 😂
  15. Yeah I’m finding that out when I built a few frames from the DM600. The molds are wore out. I’m a little nervous to start the DM800 seem lots of YouTube videos tell how it’s a hard kit to build but I never had any problems when I built mine in 1986. Most of those builds don’t like using there brains like we did back in the day and put the effort in it. They want to shake the box and they have a complete model.
  16. I hope to be in 4 years if I can get rid of that trucking fever I have. I’m sure I will slow down quite a bit.
  17. lol mine too. You don’t have to go to all that trouble but it is fun digging in old boxes that’s why I put this back on the bench I found it looking for something else. I might start a thread on Jim Etter and Doug Compton AIM and Dave AITM stuff and we can post our stuff there and maybe others will follow along. I know people have interesting stuff that Dave never offered. I have a couple old cabs I got from Doug that was models at one time that need to be restored.
  18. Yeah I have a small farm so I’m out every morning at 4:45 am feeding the sheep before I go Dump Trucking and do the same when I get home and odds and ends around the barn. This time of year I like to build models as much as possible because when spring his it’s all outdoors from there till late fall. That’s why I haven’t been around here much
  19. Yeah Detroits were around plenty of them. I might play it safe and put a Cummins in it and paint it yellow. Since the hood won’t be open I’m just going to cut an old Cummins 370 block in half and drop it in as an engine pan. I would like to see that DM800 on the bench again the wife just bought me one the other night at hobby lobby. I’m thinking of working on it. I haven’t buy one since around 1985.
  20. I keep mine off all the time the wife is gone it’s so piece full 😂
  21. Thanks for the compliment I appreciate it. I have just a few of his and some of Doug Compton who bought it from Jim in the late 80s. I bought a lot from Dave and he would sell to his trusty comers like me very rare parts and trucks I’m sure you are one of them. I’ll post a pic of the instructions of this truck where you can see Jim’s line drawings and Dave adding to it with the Window template. I was reading some threads here getting caught up and I was thinking I would like very much to see your model truck builds you done for customers and yourself. Hope to have more updates soon.
