  1. Hey, Im looking at a 1975 RS700L tomorrow. Was that called western style? Whats different than a Rd or Rs 600? He says company bought it new and has about 300k, A twinstick trans and not sure of motor size. also has rust on floor and behind cab, curently a tractor. Thanks ray

  2. i want to replace my air ride single axle on my "evil' volvo fe42 tree spade truck with locking spring ride axle. its too mushy and wanders. i tried helpers to no avail. i would like 3.7 ratio.

oh heres another request . today at an auction i bought a 1953 chev 4400 grain truck with 12k miles. all original. does anyone know of a 2 speed rear for it? thanks ray

  3. thanks for info so far, 5.03 rears runs nice up to 65 mph, thats plenty fast for top heavy tree spade. it needs the 3 low hole speeds off road or simular.

    rpm's pulls to 1600-1800 nicely

major drop between road gears, annoying. has .6 overdrive

  4. Hey guys, I need advice on getting more speeds for my mack em7 300 hp with 8 speed. It has 5.03 rears. My understanding is that the 2080 trans has 40% OD. I have a 85" tree spade and the 3 low grears work great off road. On road it is basically a 5 speed. I am adding a pod trailer this week and would like more gears or more POWER, haha. Could a quad box help? Thanks Ray

  5. Ok, Finally got it off. Kind of sick mack puzzle. I definately need a repair manual to save time and energy. Hopefully I will be able to get the gear in the right place and time the thing, with the secret plug and rotating cog. Ha. The dealer warned me not to do it myself, said I would need an A-B timing light. Oh well a person never learned without mistakes. Thanks again ray

  6. I need some advice on my 91 Em7 300 hp. last fall i started losing coolant in my tree spade truck. checked for leaks externally. The pressure gage drops from 10# down to 4 in 2-3 minutes. dealer says liners? Any ideas or suggestions.Repair money limited as large trees seem to bean extravagance in this economy. Thanks Ray

  7. I agree- upshifting on an uphill is the Maxidyne's weak point. Turning the governor up to 2100 or so shouldn't hurt the engine, won't hurt fuel economy unless you cruise it above 1800, and will make for a marvelously flexible engine.

Ok , I found the problem 7.00 gears. So anybody any ideas for an aux transmission to upgrade? Anybody with parts for sale?

  8. I think an MR or an LE would suit you well. I have the ins with a few people and ussually get them for around $10,000 almost always allison 740s (4 speeds). ussually come with big hydraulic pumps crankshaft driven. I'll attatch a before picture of the last one i did. (spent alot of money on body work etc.) I also put a former postal CH together as a TMR truck (also auto 740), That truck turned out good too!!

OK I found the ratio 7.00!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder it is slow.
