  1. Yes vibration is while stationary. I gonna take belt off later today and see if it makes a difference. Went by Mack yesterday after work and they told me I need to make an appointment or leave the truck. the flywheel was my original thought and it’s looking more and more like it. It’s an Eaton 8LL. do you think pto backlash could cause vibration?
  2. Looks like it... I think I’m still gonna pull oil pan on next oil change and check it out... Do you think it’s possible for a fan hub to cause vibration to resonate to the clutch/transmission?
  3. Electrical issues really suck... I know technology advancements have improved a lot of things but it also made a lot of things more difficult. It’s like you need 2 types of mechanics/technicians. One for mechanical work and the other for electrical. I’ve had trouble finding someone very proficient at both
  4. I know that’s the part I don’t get either. That still doesn’t solve the clutch problem. Only thing I can think of is that maybe I’m dealing with 2 issues instead of One. This truck is a mess... too many people had there hands on it. And I don’t know what anyone REALLY DID.
  5. But having improper ecm programming can definitely affect run quality correct?
  6. Now that you mention unit pump CAL codes I wonder if the codes were even put in right when the new unit pumps were put in . That wasn’t done at mack... I’m gonna stop by the dealer this week and see what I can do... I just hope they don’t make me leave the truck another couple days and that they don’t slam me with a 1-2000 dollar bill... I remember when I asked about getting a re-rate to 400hp they said it was around $2000 and they haven’t done those In years.
  7. Can mack tell if the programming is wrong by hooking it up to their computer? Other than codes coming up that aren’t relevant to my truck? Is it a quick job or do you think I need to leave the truck there for a day or 2?
  8. Yes I do have a dealer a few mins away. I’m going to look into it this week. should I just ask for a re-flash and any updates if any? we bought the truck new in 2000.
  9. When I saw those codes and looked them up that was the exact thought that went thru my head . Maybe u were saying it joking but I seriously thought it. My mechanic mentioned “it seems like the truck lost it’s memory” forgive me if I’m not as technically inclined as you guys but is that a possibility? does mack charge to reflash ecu? How long does it take?
  10. Checked endplay with dial it’s a .010”. run out was at zero. I changed the cam and crank position sensors and the studder when returning to idle seemed to get better... I still think I should maybe pull the pan and have a visual inspection of the bearings there’s a few other things that I want to check out too. one more thing that I found strange was when I scanned the truck with computer it was sending codes for air mass flow sensor and an egr related code both of which my truck doesn’t have. Aren’t the codes for ASET/AI motors? Why would my truck me sending those codes?
  11. I just did it this morning and I have some play. I’m not sure exactly how much BC I don’t have a dial but it’s definitely more than a few thousands of an inch. Hopefully I can get the truck in shop before week end.
  12. I agree 100%. The rd was Nice but on the primitive side. It was like 80’s 90’s technology
  13. I hear ya the r models weren’t built for comfort but I have driven some that drove pretty nice. Mine was one of them.we have my 2000, an 04 granite and 06 granite and a 2012 granite. So I’m aware that the rd doesn’t ride like those trucks . It doesn’t have an air ride cab. You feel every little bump. The body banging is always making noise. But I definitely know when something isn’t right. The rest of the truck really is almost perfect. I put the truck up on stands and the driveshaft and tires run beautiful
  14. I really try to keep it as nice as I can considering it’s an 18 year old truck... this picture was after I fixed it when the loader hit me . I painted the body and put lights in as well. in regards to your questions 1. Other people can definitely tell there’s a problem but no one was able to pin point what exactly was making the noise, hence the clutch being replaced 3 times, the transmission, and pto. And Everytime I put a new clutch In it feels better for a couple days then that starts rattling and chattering like crazy. 2. I would say 75% of the people have said it was not normal and the other 25-% really don’t know their ass from their elbow to make an honest answer 3. Mack argued the truck was normal but by camshaft ended up being bad at that time so their credibility went out the door in my book the first mechanic argued it was normal and I had 2 injectors that were shot and the truck was misfiring after he did the cam so his credibility went out the window to me the current mechanic agrees something is wrong but he didn’t know what it was. But his boss the owner who doesn’t knowwhat to think i will say this though whatever it is and I think I know what it is (crankshaft related) is getting progressively worst over time. Today I was driving and the truck is struggling with power.. I have no smoke like I did when the truck had bad injectors but just does not have the power it had... the vibration is starting to become banging and knocking. I may be young and may not have as much time in older trucks as some of you guys have. But I know my truck and I know that it wasnt like this a year and a half ago. but you are right I feel like it is a curse hearing every little sound
  15. I know I can see that! So true... I really wish I came on here when the problem started... im a perfectionist when it comes to cars, trucks, and guns lol. I like to take care of my stuff so it takes care of me
  16. I dont think the truck is working tomorrow so I have a lot of stuff to try and some time to do it ... once again thank you for the suggestions
  17. The vibration stays the same but the clutch chatter eases a little bit
  18. I’m really praying it’s not as bad as I’ve been thinking. It’s hard to sleep at night with this stuff constantly going thru my mind
  19. I really hate doing stuff like that but it’s really gotten out of hand... they had our 2012 granite in the shop last week for dpf problems. They baked the filter changed a couple sensors and a valve and gave us a bill for $5600. They did the same thing like 8 months ago and now again.now 3-4 days later I have a warning message come up saying dpf system fault. I keep telling them I think it’s a motor issue causing the dpf issue and they’re telling me no no no. i just don’t think it’s right that we have to keep paying for incompetent guessing games when at the end of the day the problems aren’t solved
  20. Have you guys seen any cases where ur able to put in new bearings and it solve the problem? And have you seen bearings go bad in 4 years and pistons liners be fine? I know it depends on if the crank has damage and if the block got damaged as well . I’m trying to look at the best case scenario. the weird thing is, I have been doing oil samples every few months and besides the on sample when I had fuel dilution because of leaking injectors all of the samples were great... no elevated metal levels. The notes stated better wear than universal averages. So I never got any signs of any bearing wear or top end wear from oil samples
