There are a lot of idiots out there

The one thing I do like about this pandemic is I can just say I am socially distancing and avoid dealing with most of the idiots and I have so much more free time to work on my projects.

The other thing I like is the reduced traffic

By social distancing you guys aren't doing your republican duty to build herd immunity... Even if it kills you.

  2. Been hearing that line for years- "Everybody is moving out of NY, California, LA, Minnesota, etc.". Looking at the census and ACS stats, most every metro area and big democratic state is gaining population, including California. Rural areas are pretty much losing population, with the exception of tribal nations and areas that have attracted immigrants. As for NYPD's whining, they've got twice as many cops per capita as Minneapolis and have been overstaffed for years.

  3. That might apply there, but Trump's policies are more radical than traditional conservatism and the democrat's policies are not even as extreme as Euro style social democracy. If you look at the worlds most successful economies, with the exception of China, most are social democracies where capitalism is the default but the government insures universal health care and sometimes major utility services, etc..

  4. The downfall of all your new right arguments is that they're based on fallacies- Truth is, we have too much crime everywhere and too many people in jail by world standards. The problem isn't that we have too many guns, we have too many people running around "locked and loaded" and ready to go off on anyone over anything. We have failed miserably at containing COVID-19 and will pay the price for years to come. And instead of supporting the problem solvers of both parties like Romney and Walz, you pour gasoline on this partisan fire with conservatism so extreme that you can't find a working example of it anywhere on this planet.

  5. As they say, "The devil is in the details" The GM bankruptcy was about as successful as a bankruptcy can be because the government insisted that GM fix it's problems and end it's mismanagement while protecting jobs, health care for around a million citizens, and the communities that hosted GM. Because that bankruptcy was so well done there is now an independent GM Museum, many small town dealers who'd lost franchises were able to appeal and get them back, and they created the RACER Trust to clean up the pollution left behind by GM's abandoned factories. Looking at the alternative, I'd say the taxpayers got their money's worth.

  6. Sorry that my governor and I refuse to conform to your stereotype of an AOC style "democratic socialist." We make decisions based on what's right and works, not political ideology- For example, there's a ton of scientific research behind Walz's COVID-19 strategy. It's the moderates like Walz and Romney who "get 'er done" while the ideologues like AOC and Trump argue their untested political theories.

  7. Sounds like we agree on something. Most of the cargo I've hauled filled the trailer long before it exceeded the weight limits, so I see no logic on wasting several feet of space on a hood that could be used to haul more cargo instead. Even with the same size trailer the cabover gives better maneuverability, and with the cab tilted you've got better service access than any conventional but Scania's.

  8. For you name callers, Governor Walz is a retired Guard member and moderate democrat who has been endorsed by the NRA. He was a teacher who had no interest in politics until he took his students on a field trip to a Bush campaign rally and they were denied admission because the campaign thought one of the students was a democrat... That ticked him off and got Tim Walz to run for congress!

  9. The tests sometimes report false negatives, that's why they usually test twice. Mortality depends on the case mix, and is much higher when the COVID-19 virus gets into a nursing home, etc.. The big threat we're just starting to see now is long term disability in COVID-19 survivors, we only know how this disease affects people for 6 months so far but looks like a lot of survivors will have health problems and disability for years to come.

  10. Mack has also developed some impressive RSC specifically from applications like ready mix trucks. But actually, I was talking about the stability of the trailers, and one of the best measures of that is RA (Rearward Amplification) which is a fancy term for the "tail wagging the dog" behavior seen in multiple trailer combinations. Single trailers generally do best in these comparisons, followed closely by B-Doubles, long conventional doubles, short conventional doubles, and triples are the worst.

I don't have a ton of slop in mine. I am thinking they may actually shift easier with fluid like that. I am seriously condidering experimenting with it. It wouldn't be horribly expensive to swap it back out if it makes noise. I was planning on adding my usual gallon of lucas, so it may not make much noise at all.

"shift easier with a fluid like that"... Sure sounds like you're having some difficulty shifting.

Moderator, please also chastise Maxidyne for inflammatory comments that add nothing to the original post and prejudges the motives and situation of the person making the post.

My apologies if that was taken as an insult. Usually when someone is substituting "off label" lubricants it's to save a buck or that's all that they have available, and I've been guilty of such mechanical crimes when in a pinch. In this case the OP accepts the risks and is willing to change the oil again if it doesn't work. That said, I'd be tempted to try a multi-weight synthetic oil that meets Mack's specs first, then if the hard shifting persist look at other causes.

  13. That's the natural human reaction when threatened, but not always the best response. The major threat we face now is a stupid little virus, it attacks both democrats and republicans, and all america's guns, police, and even nuclear weapons are useless against it,

YO Quicky your state is writing tickets for not wearing masks ?? I was called out for reporting that when I went to pick up the Pete we  bought, it is what I was told while there and now I see it on the news, SCREW CA. your state should call them selves a member of the Soviet Union.   $300  for first ticket ??????????? your state has been taken over power hungry dirt bags.

The stores, states, and cities that require masks are getting business from the places that don't- Costco is doing great and Menards was busier than I've ever seen it yesterday. Like many consumers, if masks aren't required where social distancing is iffy, I take my business elsewhere.
