  1. Finally found a cab for my 66 R model restoration. Noticed the steering column came out of the cab differently and the steering box was different on the frame. Took a look at the tag on the door and it said B61. Walked around and then saw the BCR tag under the air cleaner. Called my friend that I got it from to let him know this was a BCR. He said he knew that and when he was young he remember the B model well and then one day the company had a new R model. He never knew they kitted the B model until years later when he bought the "R".

  2. The B61 integral sleeper is sharp. Can anyone tell me if they made 2 sizes of the sleepers on the integrals? I have seen what appears to be a larger sleeper as this B model is compared to other B's i have seen?

  3. I was coming back from visiting Gettysburg with the family heading to Pittsburgh for our flight home. I hit the brakes and did a U turn. Nobody was home though but I did get some pics. There were a few trucks in the garage too.

  4. I gotta take off the "Clean Idle" sticker tommorrow and if the tires and wheels show up then put the stainless full fenders on the back. Truck was ordered with bullet lights on top but came with standard lights so I gotta change them out as well.

I was wondering if the clean idle sticker had to remain or be displayed since I am seeing so many of them on the new rigs. And when you say that the truck was ordered with the bullet lights but did not have them on it, does that mean Mack is paying for them or you just out of luck?

  5. What are the thoughts of everyone here about getting a nice new rig like that and then having the factory put a big sticker decal on either the hood or door that it is certified? Seems like they should give put the decal in the cab and let you decide how to mount it and where? But I like the rig and the front end is sharp........it is a looker.

  6. My opinion on the LT for sale. A reasonable price would be in the 3-5k range. But if a person is going to do a restoration or at least a get it running and legal overhaul you need to be able to buy it or any old truck for that matter for as low a price as you can get it. It just flat costs so damn much money and your time to do the job. The 48 LT has a different frame that was not too good. There was a beautiful LT with a Hall-Scott up in the MA area. I belive it was sold to a collector in Australia?? The problem with that HS motor in my opinion is the cost to operate if you want to drive your truck. And the LT in an original stock condition as a driver is not that great. Unless you repower and change the mounts such as front springs, engine, tranny, etc you stand a good chance of being stranded. If you note that the steering wheel in an LT comes straight at you. This was changed with the later B series L cab trucks by putting the U joint at the dash. A much more comfortable position. I attached a picture of my LTH (heavy) and this was a one owner logger with all orginal mounts ect except for the spring hangers that the owner changed within a yr to create a better rid. The LTH has a 3/8" frame also vs the 1/4" that the LTL has. All around the LTH was a better truck. And you are right that most LT's in the west ended up as water trucks etc and the LTL was not intended for that and most are badly broke up. The LT that the guy(Goode?) in PA rebuilt into a modern rig is awesome.

  7. Amen to that. it really is unbelievable how we have sold ourselves right down the crapper. Buy a Freighliner made in Mexico.............makes me sick thinking about it. All of the left wing commies in Portland, Oregon ran Freightliner out of Swan Island. And now the City gives money to a wind turbine company to build a new plant and office there. Wow!!

  8. That is a nice website for Mack parts. It reminded me of the time Dr Bill Comcowich came through town in his W model. He complained about it roaming all over the road. In the end we rebuilt his tie rod ends which were parts readily available from Mack as they were the same as in the RD. But his insulator caps on the rears did not have the side blocks in them along with the insulators being about gone and the brass bushings were gone. Overall sure improved the drive for him after it all got repaired but being a novice I did not think about checking the tube for wear.
