I'm looking for a truck last seen on the south shore of Massachusetts a year or two ago, any information would be greatly appreciated.  I copied this posting from the posting I put on Craigslist.

WANTED- Looking for any information available about a mid to late 60s international R series. The exact year and model are not certain to me. The last information I have is that roughly 1 or 2 years ago it was sold by South shore pile driving in Marshfield, MA as a cab and chassis. Previous to that it was owned by R.E.Taylor pile driving and is likely still painted grey with a black chassis and fenders. It was purchased by Taylor around the mid eighties from Wyoming as an oil field Derrick crane or Gin pole truck. He converted it to a pile driving rig and used it up until 5 or 6 years ago. He then sold it to South Shore Pile Driving who removed the Derrick and currently still use the actual pile driving rig. I haven't seen the truck in years, but as far as I know it was an operating vehicle after the boom was removed. It is a tandem axle long wheelbase truck with some sort of Cummins diesel and a 5+4 transmission. I included a picture of a truck that is very similar to the one I am looking for. At first I thought he was going around gates, but then after watching the whole thing it was obvious he was pulling back into the road and there was no gates. I dont think he was trying to beat the train, it sounds like he spaced out and didnt see or hear it (which is hard to imagine). But who would pull away form a dot inspection and try to out run a train? Even stupid people doing stupid things try not to do them in front of a cop. After he can legally drive again is he likley to find another job? I figured after something like that your company wouldn't be able to get there insurance company to sign off on him. Andy

That sucks, he sounded like a decent guy. We all do stupid things on occasion, ideally we catch ourselves before something like that happens. I would imagine an event like this would end ones trucking career, is that true? I'm not in the business myself, my father and some friends are but none of them have had any accidents. What are the consequences for something like this. Andy

Gmerrill, are you planning on trying to use Burt at specialty Stripping? I've heard he does them up there, but curious about price and quality. There media blasting work is top notch. Andy

I live in Mass, got my carry permit 5 years ago or so. Saftey course here is $100 as I recall. In Mass ultimately the police chief is who decides to issue the license, the application asks for a written explanation as to why you want the license. Personally I wrote "all lawful purposes", I had no issue getting the license. Some places are easy and some are impossible, it is definitely an odd situation. The Lowell police cheif appears to be an idiot. Andy

Absolutely, auto transmissions are intimidating to me at least and thats a nice trans. I would do the same thing, im anxious to here your thoughts after your finished. Andy

Truck looks real clean, that never happens in the northeast. I "converted" a th400 for my buddy to get his plow truck going, as I recall I just pulled the tailshaft housing and cut the tailshaft with a sawzall. That truck is gonna be so much nicer with the OD. Andy

Maybe they still have a file on the truck with an old registation or excise tax bill that will help overcome the no title issue for you. Andy

Rowdy, I m not really familiar with newer gm overdrives, but I have owned a 1990 blazer and installed a monster 700r4, it was not right from day one. After banging my head against the wall for a month or two, I brought it to a reputable local shop and the guy there told me it was a pos. He rebuilt it and it was great, I dont know if he was just trying to justify the expese of the rebuild, but I wouldnt underestimate the value of having the ability to go talk to the guy who built the trans in person. Personally I would only purchase the brand new trans, or have one rebuilt locally. I installed a bowtie overdrive 200-4r in another vehical and it was great though, just a risk that I wouldnt take again personally.
