  2. lol well while ever one else is at it i,ll add my copper coins worth .........all i can add is its a patiencegame Steve ....i,ve found that Mack boxes have Big gears w TEETH !!! an true with a Roady u can sorta race up an down box once mastered with eng revs an road speed but with a mack box all is acomlished with a little patience ...i have a MIR with a 237 coupled to a 9spd O/D Roadranger and a R688 with a 350 2 valve coupled to a 12spd twin stick Mack box an hafta catch myself jumpin from one to the other as both require different attitudes to driving style. only advice i can offer is dont stress we all Clean teeth an at end of day after all they ARE in a BOX unless your trying to jam a gear with poor ol girl bouncin on governor an your shoulder behind stick u cant really kill a mack Box......theyr,e straight cut gears for a Reason.. as like the golden sayin BUILT LIKE A MACK TRUCK . sound like you have a steep learning curve ahead of you Steve ...anyway enough of my rambling ...keep it shiney side up ..
  3. looking for any feedback on IHI " INTRAX " rear air bag suspensions , looking for alternatives as replacing 4.66 ratio Mack diffs on Camel back in my R688 .....have had previous expirience with hendrickson HAS 400 " standard Mack air " and jusDONT LIKE .......would liketo fit Neway but hard to find in combination i want S/H .( Combination i,m after is @ 4.33 / 4.66 40 /44000 pound either Eatons / Rockwell or even Dana with Xlocks an Diff locks not fussed either on Spider ( cast spoke ) or 10 stud buds / Alco,s. my specifications are wanted as i wish to keep Road Train rating ( 90 ton ) GVM and i do a lot of work in off road ,paddock, quarry conditions and want to kep the capabilities in such conditions that i have with camelback, but is a cheaper alternative for me to go with a complete rear frame cut than it is to equip my current set up w diff and X locks, i dont want to turn Rmodel into a " bitsa " but will welcome any feedback on my topic
  4. on your R ?? why do you need to know an what for ...can post u pics of mine , now stretchin chassi on mine so i,ll be changing it has youre been damaged or has it been fiddled with by someone ?
  5. there is 1 pic of my MIR though not showing all of it as it,s parked alongside my Aust IHI ACCO ...will post some more dedicated pics of it soon , along with some of the R688 currently in my workshop undergoing some chassis repairs an a frame stretch to accomodate the Quick Change 10cu3meter body off of the MIR along with 5th wheel so both dogs are more versatile in there operations. Frame on R688 is double chassis rail type as she,s rated to 90ton ( Double Road Train ) an was originally specced for stock crate work, so she sorta suffering from Rust spread forcing outter rail apart from inner due to its crate work . Stretching frame will also allow me to move drive back @ 800mm to get more weght on steer as at its original spec was for crate which has a forward pin location on trailer , and pullin tipper ( dumper ) an Step Deck cant throw weight forward an subsequently too heavy on steer .. And the usual myriad of jobs that seem to crop up when you start these projects ......pul 12spd an blow apart for new gaskets / seals as leakin oil is a Pet HATE ....oh an new exhaust , tires & rims all way around , alloy fuel tanks .... i Gotta Stop before i whip out spray gun ......had Considered Black with a Flame job ........also trip to THERAPIST to STOP before i get carried away .............any way nuff o my rambellings i,ll get to it an post some pics soon ...
