  1. Rowdy Rebel,

Living in Eastern PA we have tons of low bridges- so I set the CB antenna just an inch higher than my stack that way I can inch up to the bridge and see if it hits before I go any further.

My stock radio antenna is on top of the roof and hit bridges here a lot and that always makes me duck even when I know I have clearance.

  2. Guys thanks for all of the great comments. This was one long day day since we did not have any wiring diagrams or fuel pump diagrams, so just trial and error to get it going. Carl that is very cool that you rode with it when in service in Brooklyn. We found a picture (attached) at the station that was sold on eBay. Al It will stay in Reading with CF600 and since he has 3 other CF's I think he may need some help getting it to the shows so think I will get to drive it when needed!

We know it served as Engine 216 from Jan 1987 to November 1998 and think it was then a reserve engine since it has the NYFD shop paint job and touched up the dog legs and fenders for typical CF rust. Trying to find out if it was dispatched to the the World Trade Center on 9/11 and was one that survived.

  3. It was a beautiful day for a show and was well attended by the PA contingent from BMT. The 39 Baby Mack was there with the 85 MH with the Rogers lowboy and a 1960 B85 Firetruck East Lansdowne PA on the lowboy for a ride. .

Plenty of Superliners this year and R's ,CL CH and Granites, as well as great collection of show cars, tractors and pickups etc.

Ron and family and my wife and I all had a great lunch served by the HK burger and dog team. John Haines put on a great show and great hospitality.

Thanks to John Haines, Art Cooper and the HK team.

My buddy is a painter and always gets horizontal shaft pumps, I used one last weekend for the deck and patio with 3000 PSI, and has a option to pull in chemicals into the flow, He uses bleach which really cleans up on house work but for degreasing the firetrucks we use a biodegradable degreaser from ardex called new wave that would be great to clean up the rear end and around the fifth wheel in the MH.

Good Luck and happy power washing!

  5. Paint job looks great-There are 2 versions of the B Model front end- one allows the grill to be removed separately- the early model does not. Here is the Install process for the early B Models-

    1. Install L&R fenders with inner fenders to cab, (leave bolts loose for adjustment)

    2. assemble the grill and headlight panels as an assembly

    3. Using fender welting between headlight panels and fenders install bolts between headlight panels and fenders (both sides) , install bolts to rad support and then adjust as necessary and pull them up tight.

    4. Note all bolts use fender washer, lock washer and bolt to protect paint from being scratched.

Check your local Penske or Ryder, they sell the old trucks and many times you can remove the body and use it as a storage shed.

There is a company in Exton PA that sells the old Penske boxes from 22-26'. The company is J tech and will probably make you a good deal.

6 hour rides to NE Ohio from there.

First thing to do is drain the pump and transfer case to see if it has any water in the oil/gearbox. If there is no water, refill the gearbox (transfer and pump) and then use a chain based vice grip on the drive shaft to slowly try and turn the pump input shaft. If it turns then rotate all 360 dgress and make sure no binding. If not binding then reconnect the drive shaft to the engine should be good to try it.

If you find oil and water in the gear case you can try the same procedure but most likely will find that a bearing or two will be ruined and most likely will need to spilt the pump to replace the bearing and pump seals. You can terll if it tunes over and when beign turned by the engine makes a lot of noise will the require to trar it down and inspect/replace the bad parts.

    Good luck

  8. Had to run a Wawa trailer out to Manheim PA for repairs- so thought I would stop for a cup of Wawa coffee for a late night run which was on the way. The Wawa employees came out and wondered what I had for them to unload at midnight!
