The Bickford family has posted an ecellent 35 minute video of Erv giving a tour of his facility on the ATHS Road Kill forum under the topic with his name.

Mr. Erv Bickford, truck restorer and collector, of Yarmouth Maine passed away Saturday May 12th.

There was one at the ATYHS Virginia-Carolina Foothills chapter show a few years ago. I believe it was from the Ashville NC area??

It was restored by an old Hennis Frt Lines drive and painted and lettered HENNIS.

We have plenty of them.. When exactly are you going to be down here. Most of the local shows are usually in late spring or early fall as it is just too damn hot to be in an open field during the middle of the summer. If your are in the Greenville SC area my buddy has a 76 F-700 we can go see and have a cuppa coffee.

Hyrdo-pnumatic clutch??? Was that an air operated hydraulic clutch??? Or a straight air clutch???

Have never seen or even heard of a lever operated air shift system before..Sure would like to look one over as it looks like the clutch could be plumbed into the shift lever with no problem..

I have driven a pusher type school bus with a straight air clutch, took a while to get used to but worked fine.. Just do NOT park it in gear!! This was prior to spring lock brakes so if the air leaked down you were on the move when it started!!

As long as Daryl owns it, either he will restore it or sell it to someone who will..Definately will not be scrapped!!

He has a lot of old plow and heavy moving equipment in various stages of restoration. He is the person who had the 1934 Linn plow at ATHS Syracuse in 2003.

Both the 504 and 555 I believe were rated at 240HP @ 3300RPM naturally asperated. Would the 265HP engine that you guys are refering to be a Turbo version of the triple nickel?? I have heard that they were not that reliable in trucks but were in the marine version. Am plannning on keeping my Brockway a 555, but just going to shows it should(???) hold up OK.

My 358 Brockway has a 504 in it and I have a 555 engine in the shed.. According to the Cummins repair manual the only difference is in the crank, which adds a half inch in the stroke, and the pump. Cummins also made a V-6 of this engine at 376 cci(??) which I did not know until I bought the shop manual.

To have a straight 8 in a Mack you probably would have to "shoe horn" in the Buick engine that Flixble busses used??
