  1. Crazy. I tried it on two computers and nothing. Thanks for the link.
  2. Hey guys I can't seem to access Watt's B Model webpage. Is it down indefinitely?
  3. Thanks everyone. There will be plenty more questions to come.
  4. Are the injectors held only by the studs with nuts or is there something else too? I haven't started anything yet. I'm trying to wait on my manuals to get here.
  5. Use a breaker bar on the crank pulley or what? I'm also going to check the tanks, filters, governor, pump, and intake before trying again in hopes of cranking next time. I'm going to pull the injectors and fill the cylinders with the acetone/ATF mixture. Think adding penetrating oil to the mixture would help?
  6. Well I got Bertha out and had someone pull me down the road just to see if she'd turn over. The transmission was fine but wouldn't turn the motor, the clutch just started smoking. The last year she was registered was 1981 so it's really not surprising but I do know she was running when parked. She was actually inside at first and someone using the building decided to drag all of my grandads stuff outside thus the broken windows and extra rust. What's the best way to try and break the old 673 loose?
  7. I was able to go out to the truck today and found the cutoff cable. Unbelievably its not stuck. I see one fuel filter. Is there a second one hiding?
  8. I drive a tow truck for a living so I'm familiar with air brakes and all. I've done enough research to understand the concept of how to shift the duplex but I don't imagine that will help much in reality. My biggest concern is getting a temporary fuel tank plumbed properly and being able to shut it down. I was able to find a post showing how the cutoff works so now I just have to find the time to tear the fenders down and make sure that its working before we try to pull it off. I think the brakes may be backed off from when it was towed across town years ago so if by some miracle she runs, we won't be driving. We're gonna pull her off with a wrecker so stopping won't be an issue...yet. Thanks for all the help. I know I'm gonna need a lot more.
  9. Pardon my ignorance but I'll be needing a lot of help as this project takes off. Is this on the truck or something I need to set up. My experience is limited to gas burners in vehicles much less substantial than this.
  10. Hey all. Going to make my way towards starting Big Bertha. I have no key and the cutoff switch has three unlabeled terminals so I'm unsure how to replace it. What do I need to allow it to start and to cut it off should it start. I'll be attempting a pull start.
  11. Thanks for the info. It has glass fuses in the glove box.
  12. Thanks for the help. All that advice will be heeded. first task will be to check the wiring and see if I can get her firing.
  13. Thanks guys. It worked for Berclair Wrecker which is off of Pleasant View. Those windows have been broken for years so I wasn't worried about another week. I'm going to sand and prime the bad parts as soon as I can just to stop the rust. She's rough but hopefully will be restored.
  14. Hello. I have been reading and researching this forum for a few weeks now trying to learn about these trucks. Thanks for having a great site. This was my granddad's favorite truck for years, Big Bertha. He used it in Memphis until it became common to have hydraulic wreckers. The tandem axel is not original. It was added when the City of Memphis said heavy duty wreckers must have tandem axles, regardless of the weight of the vehicle. He also travelled the country in it, going as far as Florida and South Dakota to my knowledge. The data plate is missing and I can't find the chassis number due to the mountains of old grease and dirt that I haven't had time to scrape it off. The truck has been moved since these pictures were taken. I'll try to post more if anything progresses. Any info anyone has to offer as to the year or anything else would be wonderful.
