No dash valve, just diverter flaps. We would put a shut off valve on the manifold where the heater line hooks up, and on the top left of the water pump where the nipple is.. Close them in the summer, and open them in the winter.. the inline cable operated valve is junk, but good enough for when outside temps are average for the time of year..

don’t have anyone here to help me right now but pretty sure this is the valve I’m looking for on the outside of the firewall isn’t it?

Update if anyone cares to know. Found the valve/diverter whatever you want to call it while doing overhead. Stuck out like a sore thumb. Anyways I adjusted the clamp and it made a world of difference. I always like to set heater valves like a choke on a gasser so the lever isn’t quite all the way to the cool side before it fully closes. That way you know for sure it’s closed all the way. Kinda dumb, it appears they put it on the return side instead of the hot side. Would think hot side would be a better idea

You can put it either way, they still suck.  Best way to control flow is a valve at the water pump and one on the rear water manifold instead of the nipple that's there.

P.S.  we care,, any solution posted is valuable
