differance between deaerated and non-deaerated cooling system

my '77 r model Mack only warms up to 140 degrees when cold. put it to work and it goes to 180. it has a check valve in the thermostat. if it idles 15 or 20 minutes it goes back to 140 or 150. not good for heater. i have a thermostat that has no check valve that would fit but it says on the box to only use in deaerated systems. i dont know if my 676 endt would accept this thermostat. any help would be appreciated. thank you.
