  2. i put 12 lbs in tanks and found leak behind fan thank you
  3. thank you guys for info on stuff to look at, im old and old school and cant put picture on cause i still have a flip fone. my brain refuses to update and thats part of the reason i still drive a 77 r model, i guess me and the old dump truck understand each other, at least we did before this latest curveball.
  4. i dont know how to search the archives i guess, but my old 77 2 valve loses prime over night, a little ether helps but dont sound to good on motor. i cant find any leaks and have changed both filters. i would consider a electric pump tp prime with but dont see a good way to tie it in. stumped?
  5. anyway, i ordered a hand pump, right now i have nothing but a little air pressure in the tank with no luck, scared to put too much pressure. when the pump gets here i am going to try a little air pressure with the pump, if that dont work i am going to fill the primary, if that dont work i will fill the secondary , right now i have no hand pump or any way to prime the system except for air pressure in the tank. thank you guys for responding.
  6. i will call Mack at Enid okla monday and see . thank you guys for responding
  7. no , i did not fill filters first because i was told it would not be filtered properly even though i do have a filter on my off road diesel tank outside on stand
  8. i changed my filters and tried air in the tank with input line on injector off . not having much luck after 2 hrs of blowing. where can i get a hand pump that screws into the top of my fuel pump? i am an old guy and not savy on computer. thank you
  9. it seems my old 676 2 valve is lacking fuel. my puffer valve on front of injector pump is hooked only to intake manifold and not tied in with my brake system like some i have seen. i rarely see any black smoke from my exhaust.
  10. the push-pull knob for the air bag dump is made of a red see thru plastic with bulb inside of the knob. is that bulb replacable? i cant seem to be able to tear it apart without breaking it. the simplest things sometimes give me fits
  11. i got this truck a while back with a 12 speed in it. there is a toggle switch on the dash that says lo and direct on it. it works fine, when it is in lo the only gear it will let you use is first. perfect for taking off with a load to save the clutch. but it dont like it when you flip that switch on the move. what am i missing? i dont get on the net very often so i apologize if it takes me a long time to respond. any info would be much appreciated. thanx
  12. i got the nut off and there are no holes for a puller. the steering shaft is hollow and looks fragile with the fine threads and thin wall. i dont want to booger it up but i need to fix loose bushing on top of the shaft right under the steering wheel. anybody have any knowledge on this subject?
  13. Happy New Year. i just bought a 1963 b61 sx. both of the motors in the heater need replaced, any suggestions on where i can find them ?
  14. i'm sorry i'm so slow to respond to everybody but my puter took a dump for ahwile. i took the j hancock advice and ordered the baldwin g25-af and they are a perfect fit. my parts guy wont look at me in the face when i walk in the parts house. they only cost me 6 bucks each. i'm self employed and use my 77 r model most every day. i rebuilt my engine with help from you guys and it runs like a champ. thanks again!!!
  15. this might be the wrong forum but... my parts man might be lazy but he cant find the gaskets for my dual air cleaner r model. i think they measure 15 in. OD and 13 in. ID with 12 holes for 5/16 bolts. there are 2 gaskets that appear to interchange. i would love to walk in the parts house with a part # and show that guy. any help would be much appreciated.
  16. its a long ways from home but i would like to check it out, you never know. thank you
  17. I have a small backhoe service out here in nw okla. my dream dump truck would be a b61 cab on a 6 speed 285 hp r model chassis. has anybody out there done this conversion or know where i could find one? Must be a tandem axle and handle a 12 to 13 foot long rock bed. please bear with me as i dont get on the computer too often. Thank You
  18. i've got acces to both trucks with clear titles on the R models but need to hear from someone thats done it. thank you
  19. my '77 r model Mack only warms up to 140 degrees when cold. put it to work and it goes to 180. it has a check valve in the thermostat. if it idles 15 or 20 minutes it goes back to 140 or 150. not good for heater. i have a thermostat that has no check valve that would fit but it says on the box to only use in deaerated systems. i dont know if my 676 endt would accept this thermostat. any help would be appreciated. thank you.
  20. there is two checks on antifreeze filter. i dont see how anything ever gets thru there. what is the purpose of the filter anyway?
  21. if they said forward front or rearward rear it would make a lot more sense. i hate to buy new ones when the old ones look so good. low budget. thank you all
  22. that is some interesting stuff. does that mean i could install a jake or is that to far out of the realm?
  23. ah yes, i should have figured that out, really no different than my small block chevy. for some reason my mind stumbles on that big diesel. i got them all adjusted and i noticed a lot of rocker arm slack on part of the stroke but when it came back around to the pointer everything checked out fine. i wonder why?
  24. the balancer shows 1 and 6 together , then 3 and 4 and so on. do you set all 4 valves say on 1 and 6 together. it seems to me each cylinder would need to be on tdc on the firing stroke. you guys have really helped me put on this in the past and i sure do thank you. i advertised looking for a shop manual but had no luck.
  25. yes, back up lites, makes good sense. i wondered if they were limiting full fuel in reverse to help protect drive line? thank you
