New Member - Questions On B Series

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I actually found you guys after seeing the B Series on Trick my Truck. I'm looking for something old and unique to drive around, and an old Mack seems to fit the bill. I missed out on a 63 b-61 single axle day cab on Ebay (http://tinyurl.com/24vfga) that would have been perfect. But I have a few questions:

Is a CDL required for private not for hire use? (no trailer)

Has anyone run Veggie oil (SVO/WVO) as fuel?

Are engine and brake parts readily available?

Think of this as a large rat rod for me :)

Thanks

Welcome to the site

It varies state to state regarding CDL and antique trucks. In some states an antique plated truck can be drive with out a CDL but some states may require it if it has air brakes or is over said weight etc.. check with you local state laws.. Most of us here consider it a good idea just to have a CDL for that one cop that may hasel you and confuses you as a comercial truck and not antique. I have heard of only a few people getting hastled hauling a trailer with other antiques on it...

I have never weighed my B model but my R model is 15,500 likely a little heavier than the B?

Its getting harder to find B models out in the open but the internet makes up for it. hope you find a good project

Trent
