Removal Of One Piece Tunnions

Recommended Posts

Hello,I am trying to remove the one piece trunnions on a 1985 superliner.I have tried to remove the ring (with the 3/4" bolt through it)with a puller, heat and a big Hammer, but it will not budge,I have since cleaned it up and it looks like the ring is welded to the bushing? Is this normal? Before I get out the cutting torch i figure it might be cheaper to ask someone with experience, thanks

There is no ring on the one piece bushing. The sleeve, bushing, and ring are all one piece which presses into the trunnion housing.

Thanks for the repy, now how do i remove it?

It's supposed to slide off. If it won't slide off you may be able to set up a large puller. If it is really seized on the dead axle spindle you may have to cut through the bushing housing and the bushing.

"Mebbe I'm too ugly and stupid to give up!"
